Reservations due Oct. 20 for Cancun trip
The travel group at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, will sponsor an all-inclusive vacation to the Mayan Riviera section of Cancun, Mexico, with reservations prepaid by Oct. 20. The trip will be late January, and cost is $1,299.
Cost covers transportation to Newark International Airport, airfare, accommodations, meals and snacks, local drinks and food served until 2 a.m., nonmotorized water sports, beach and pool activities, night shows, “theme nights,” use of the gym, and daily transportation to Playa Del Carmen.
A trip to Sands Casino, Atlantic City, will be Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $20 and includes an $18 cash rebate. The bus will depart the parking lot at Mater Dei High School, Cherry Tree Farm Road, New Monmouth. Reservations must be prepaid by Oct. 21. For reservations, call Pat at (732) 615-9088.
Reservations taken for ‘Gems in the Afternoon’
Reservations are now begin accepted for “Gems in the Afternoon” hosted by The Friends of the Monmouth Museum. The event, presented by Hamilton Jewelers, Red Bank, will be Nov. 1 at the Rumson home of museum trustee Edward F. McNamee.
Hank Siegel, third-generation owner of Hamilton, will give a presentation on the history of jewelry design through the 20th century. There will also be a jewelry “fashion show” with classic pieces complementing modern clothing. A formal tea to be served will include various teas, sandwiches, and pastries and desserts.

Sponsorships available for ‘Taste of Holidays’
Tickets and sponsorships are now available for “Taste of the Holidays” hosted by The Monmouth Council of Girl Scouts Inc., Farmingdale. The fund-raiser will be Nov. 1 from 6-9 p.m. at Old Orchard Manor, Monmouth Road, Eatontown.
The event will feature foods from local restaurants as well as a wine tasting, and silent auction. There will also be a “friendly competition” among area chefs, and the 2005 “Women of Distinction” honorees will be introduced. Tickets are $50 each.
