‘Monster Mania’ Oct. 29 in Manalapan

Manalapan Parks and Recreation will hold its annual “Monster Mania” event Oct. 29 at the Manalapan Recreation Center, Route 522 at Taylors Mills Road. The program is open to children ages 2-9.

This year’s event begins with a “Mad Science” Halloween show at 6 p.m. The Halloween parade will begin at 6:45 p.m., and the costume contest will take place immediately following the parade.

At 7:15 p.m. “Haunted Happenings” will begin. Participants are welcome to make crafts, play games and take pictures with ghosts and goblins (participants should bring their own cameras). All participants will receive a goody bag when leaving the program.

Also at 7:15 p.m., the “Haunted Trail” will open for visitors daring enough to enter. Parts of the trail will be scary and may not be suitable for young children. An exit will be provided prior to entering the more frightening sections.

The events are free of charge and will take place rain or shine. For more information, call the recreation office at (732) 446-8355, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
