I read with interest the advertisements put out by Manalapan Township Committee Republican candidates Joe Locricchio and Andrew Lucas. I can’t help think how great it must be to run a campaign on criticism of others and not have the pressure of sharing a “platform.” It is apparent that experience and knowledge of the town is not something they will be running on.
[One] advertisement was especially interesting to me. The fact that the teen center was an independent organization was mentioned, the soccer club was mentioned, the first aid squad was mentioned. What I noticed was the fact that Mr. Locricchio and Mr. Lucas had every opportunity to join any of these independent organizations for the “good” of the community, but they have not. Mr. Locricchio had criticized the school board last year regarding drugs in the school, but never bothered to join our community alliance.
They say “talk is cheap.” It is quite apparent that Mr. Locricchio and Mr. Lucas are going to run a “cheap” campaign. I, for one, am sick of the negative campaigning in this town. Tell me what you are going to do, not what they didn’t do. Tell me how you are going to lower taxes, not that other people haven’t. What are you going to do to stop building? What are you going to do to pay for a teen center? What’s the big secret?
It’s easy to criticize; it’s hard to come up with the answers.
