Endowment to benefit Imlaystown program

  • The Transitions Classroom program at the Allentown High School Imlaystown campus is the recipient of an endowment provided by the Petrella family.
  • In memory of their son John Jr., the community came together to contribute to a fund that had already provided four scholarships to deserving Allentown High School seniors who competed to further their education.

In addition to the scholarships, new textbooks, and science and art materials have been purchased for the students in the Imlaystown program.

“Mrs. Petrella contacted me to arrange for a unique opportunity,” said Jeff Roberts, Transitions Classroom teacher. “She asked me what would be a significant need that could help my students to get more from their educational program at Imlaystown. … These new high-interest textbooks will supplement our existing curriculum and provide another new opportunity for learning for our students.”

Roberts issued a press release expressing the gratitude of the Transitions Classroom students and staff to thank the families, individuals and local businesses that made the endowment possible.
