Peter Smyth, CEO of Greater Media Inc., parent company of Greater Media Newspapers, has been elected vice chairman of the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) board of directors. He has actively served on the RAB board for the past five years. He will begin his newly elected duties Jan. 1.
Smyth joined Greater Media in 1986 as general manager of WMJX-FM in Boston and held various executive positions until his appointment in October 2000, as president and chief operating officer. In March 2002, he was named as Greater Media’s president and chief executive officer.
Radio Ink, a widely respected industry publication, has selected him as one of the 40 “Most Powerful People in Radio” in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
New Jersey Diagnostic Imaging, Brick, has announced the addition of an AIRIS II magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system. The AIRIS II system features an award winning, open gantry design that provides complete access from all sides for maximum patient comfort. The inside of the AIRIS II gantry is open on four sides, which minimizes anxiety and claustrophobia in most cases. This allows the patient to have a loved one or friend at their side during the exam for further reassurance.
Community Medical Center has announced that Amadi Rezai, M.D., has joined its medical staff in the department of obstetrics and gynecology. Rezai earned his medical degree from St. George’s University and his bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Christian University. He completed his residency at Monmouth Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Medical Association. He has joined George Trim M.D. and James McDermott, D.C. at Ocean Women’s Health Care Group in Manahawkin.
Community Medical Center has been awarded Program Certification for its Cardiac Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements for standards of care.
According to Barbara Horahan, director of Community Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program, the program is designed to enable patients to regain health, independence and overall well-being through a medically supervised program. Patients participate in a comprehensive 12-week exercise and rehabilitation program under the direct supervision of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, exercise specialists and dietitians. The program consists of three key components: exercise, education, and counseling and support.
The AACVPR is a national, multidisciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve.
The NJAWBO (New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners), Monmouth/Ocean chapter, will host a dinner meeting Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Old Time Tavern, routes 37 and 166 in Toms River.
