Plainsboro firm donates generator to township

PLAINSBORO — A local company recently donated a newer and more efficient generator to the Plainsboro Public Works Department.
Princeton Financial Systems, located on College Road, could no longer use its Kohler electric generator so it decided to give it to the township.
"When PFS originally purchased this generator, we planned on using it for many years," said Scott Ferrante, chief operating officer at PFS. "Due to the success we have had in growing our business, our needs have surpassed the capabilities of our current generator. We strongly believe in giving back to the community and thought donating the generator to the township would be a great way to do so."
Princeton Financial Systems is a major provider of investment management and accounting systems.
The donated generator will supply electricity to the Public Works Department during emergencies, including power to keep the fuel supply system running for township vehicles and equipment during storms and outages.
The donation could not have come at a better time for the township.
"Our existing generator is over 20 years old and provides very limited back up for us," said Township Committeeman Michael Weaver. "If we had to purchase a generator this size, it would cost the township about $20,000, so we’re very excited about this donation."
Once the generator’s internal transfer wiring is connected, officials said it should be up and running this fall.
