More programming in store for two cable channels.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education approved a job description for a television station manager Tuesday, moving the district and West Windsor and Plainsboro townships closer to developing more programming for their two cable channels.
The job description has been posted and will probably be filled in the next few months, said Hemant Marathe, president of the board.
The television station manager will provide leadership in planning and developing the cable stations used by the school district and the two municipalities, according to a job description posted on the school Web site.
Currently, the channels mostly display bulletin-board style information and have no programming, but the addition of a television manager will change that.
The new television station manager will work primarily in the schools to develop programming and will eventually teach an advanced television production class, said Mr. Marathe. Programming for the townships will also be coordinated, though the station manager will have less of a direct role in that.
Comcast Cable, which has an agreement with both municipalities for separate cable stations, has provided grants that will cover most of the salary for the new position and has also provided television studio equipment, Mr. Marathe said. Both high schools now have television studios.
West Windsor Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh said the township is happy that the school board is moving ahead on this and that the township looks forward to having its channel developed.
Plainsboro Mayor Peter Cantu said he has been anxious to move forward with the station and is pleased that it finally will progress.
