Classes offered in art, CPR, painting, chess

  • Millstone Township Community Education is offering the following classes this term. All classes will be held at the Millstone Middle School unless otherwise indicated. Preregistration is required for all courses.
  • “Illustration Art for Children,” a three-session course, will be offered by Debra Stasiak, who developed the “Painting with the Masters” art program. Students will bring home a framed work. The classes will be held 3:45-4:45 p.m. Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and 18 at the elementary school art room. The fee is $35.

    “Creating the Garden ‘Room’ ” will offer participants guidance on designing an outdoor garden using color, texture, form and function, and the appropriate use of perennials, annuals, soil types, and shade and sun plants. The class will be taught by Stephen Kristoff on Tuesdays, Oct. 26-Nov. 23, 7-8 p.m., in room 166. The fee is $55.

    “American Heart Association CPR” will teach attendees adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the Heimlich maneuver, and will end with a written and skills test. Bob Trifiro, a certified AHA instructor and emergency medical technician, will teach the class Oct. 20 from 7-10 p.m., in the art room. The fee is $50.

    “Watercolor Painting for Adults” will be offered Wednesdays, Oct. 27-Dec. 8, 7-9 p.m. Tess Fields will teach and reinforce basic techniques and skills. The fee is $59; a supply list will be mailed at registration.

    “Chess for Children” will be taught by instructor Debby Romach Oct. 20-Jan. 5, Wednesdays from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at the middle school, and Thursdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. at the elementary school. The fee is $50.

    Residents’ ideas sought

    for board’s focus group

    The Millstone Township Board of Education invites residents to join them in participating in a focus group meeting Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Millstone Township Elementary School library. Refreshments will be served.

    The board is interested in finding out how residents receive district information, what information is important and relevant to them and their families, and what means would be best for receiving future Millstone School District information.

    Crafters’ spaces available

    for Holiday Emporium

    The Villagers of Allentown will sponsor its annual Holiday Emporium Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Allentown First Aid building, Route 526, Allentown.
