  • Bonny Kok, of Lakewood High School, was selected to participate in the National Young Leaders State Conference (NYLSC) from Oct. 21-24, in East Brunswick. NYLSC is a leadership development program aimed at ninth grade students who distinguish themselves from their peers with leadership potential and a history of academic achievement. The theme of the conference is courageous leadership. The Congressional Youth Leadership Council is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization.
  • Jackson MUA to flush

    distribution system

The Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authorities will commence flushing of its distribution system Oct. 20, weather permitting. Temporary slight discolor-ation of the water and/or a decrease of pressure may be experienced as a result of this program. By flushing the system the JTMUA expects to improve the overall quality of water delivered to its customers. It is anticipated that the flushing program will continue for about two weeks. During this period, residents are asked to place garbage and recycling containers behind the curb to avoid obstruction. They will be conducting this operation between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., Wednesday through Friday, in order to minimize the inconvenience to the residents. Details: (732) 928-2222.
