Bertha L. Rice Hyman

Mrs. Hyman, 72, of Keyport, died Oct. 15 at home. Born in Matawan, she resided there before moving to Keyport 49 years ago. Mrs. Hyman was the resident supervisor at Fisher’s Boarding Home, Keyport, for 15 years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that, she worked at Matawan Undergarment Co. She was a member of St. James AME Zion Church, Matawan. Mrs. Hyman was predeceased by her husband, John E. Hyman; two brothers, Leroy Rice and Ozzie Fisher; and two sisters, Frances Holmes and Annie Robinson. She is survived by two sons, Rodney Shields of Keansburg and David Washington of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Darlene Hyman, and Veronica and Willie Cancelrivera, all of Keyport, and Tonya and Godday Hornsby of Manalapan; three brothers, Morris Rice of Florida, Richard Rice of Matawan, and Troy Graham of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Marie Johnson of Orlando, Fla., Joyce Holmes of Matawan, and Linda Roberts of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. James Church. The Braun Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Leo Babeu

Mr. Babeu, 80, of East Brunswick, died Oct. 11 at home. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Carey Babeu. Surviving are three daughters, Beth Babeu Kelly of East Brunswick, Linda Silverstein of Roosevelt and Theresa Black of Eatontown; two sons, Leo of Two Harbors, Minn., and Paul of East Brunswick; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements were under the direction of Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Frost Woods Memorial Park, East Brunswick. Margaret M. Henahan

Mrs. Henahan, 81, of Freehold Township, died Oct. 11 at Kensington Manor, Toms River. Born in Newark, she had lived in Manalapan and Montclair before moving to Freehold Township 17 years ago. Mrs. Henahan was a sales associate for Macy’s, East Brunswick, for 16 years before her retirement in 1985. She was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Henahan, in 1990. Surviving are two sons, Kevin J. Henahan, of Howell and Edward J. Henahan, of Brick; five daughters, Kathy Strycharz, of Ewing, Susan Halbing, of Colonia, Nancy Attalla, of Howell, Maura Duffy, of Brick and Linda Miller, of Westfield; a brother, William Post, of Bloomfield; two sisters, Rosalie Pelosi, of Chatham and Marilyn Kenna, of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; and 18 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

Janet T. McHugh

Mrs. McHugh, 59, of Waretown, died Oct. 16 at home. Born in Queens, N.Y., she had lived in Palisades Park for 10 years and in Freehold Township for 18 years before moving to Waretown one year ago. She was a secretary for the American Air Plants Co., Tinton Falls, and had previously been a secretary for the Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York, New York City. Surviving are her husband, George McHugh; two sons, Kevin and Brian; and three brothers, Robert, James and Kenneth Kramer. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold, with Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, in charge of arrangements.
