Katsifis, who owns diners in East Windsor and East Brunswick and a catering facility in Edison, will occupy one of the units if the plan is approved.
“This is a project with personal interest,” Rosensweig said.
Katsifis’ mother died recently, and Rosensweig said his client is developing the project so his father and sister would have a place to live close to each other. Katsifis, his father and his sister would occupy three of the units, and the other three units would be owner-occupied.
The engineer for the project is Nelson Engineering, based in the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township.
The principle architect, James Montefort, of Neptune, and the professional planner, James Higgins, of Ocean Township, for the project, are scheduled to testify at the next meeting.
“It would be a total zoning change,” Krakauskas said. “This could set a precedent. We would end up a neighborhood of townhouses. We already have enough of those.”
