Bridge repair will close section of River Road

FAIR HAVEN — River Road, between Hance Avenue and Fair Haven Road, will be closed for three months for repairs to a bridge that spans River Road in the borough.

Construction is due to begin at the beginning of January.

The county will be doing the repairs since it is a county road.

Businesses on River Road want to let local residents know that they will be open for business as usual, despite the inconvenience of a detour, said the owner of April’s Red Balloon, Angela Delucca.

Mayor Joseph Szostak, Business Administrator Julie Keizer and Councilmen Thomas Gilmour and John Peters met with some borough business owners Monday before the council meeting to discuss the impact of the detour.

Another meeting will be held Dec. 13 with the council, the road department, engineers and business owners in attendance, to discuss the possibility of shortening the length of time the section of the road will be closed.
