FAIR HAVEN — The borough Police Department received a call that an assault with a knife had taken place Oct. 20 at 3:16 a.m. on Forman Street and that the suspect had left the area on River Road operating a black mid-size vehicle.
According to Detective Joseph McGovern, a female resident of Forman Place was present when her boyfriend and two of his friends, including the victim, became involved in a confrontation with the resident’s former boyfriend.
The victim, a resident of Eatontown, was slashed in the torso, and initially refused medical attention when police arrived at the scene, according to reports. He later asked for medical attention while he was at headquarters giving his statement.
The Fair Haven First Aid Squad was able to give the victim some medical attention, but he refused any further treatment.
At 4:30 a.m., the Atlantic Highlands Police Department contacted Fair Haven Police headquarters, stating that Argenis Bautista, Grand Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, had been arrested in connection with the knife assault.
Bautista was transported to headquarters, where he was questioned and then charged with two third-degree crimes: possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.
Bail was set at $25,000 with no 10 percent, and Bautista was transported to the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township.
