‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ at Brick Memorial H.S.

  • Joseph Kesselring’s play “Arsenic and Old Lace” will be performed by the Brick Township Memorial Drama Club at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28, 29 and 30 at Brick Memorial High School, 2001 Lanes Mills Road in Brick.
  • “Arsenic and Old Lace” is a comedy with a hint of Halloween spirit. The story revolves around a drama critic named Mortimer (played by Rob Anderson, a senior) who comes home to his two kind, old aunts (played by juniors Nikki Grizzle and Rachel Szymialowicz) only to discover their strange hobby of killing off lonely old men. Mortimer’s two brothers are portrayed by Enmanuel Suarez and Darren Keppley, both seniors.

    The play is directed by Colleen Hulse along with assistant director Kevin Bettys, who is also the musical director. Derek Hulse is the technical director.

    USAF Ambassadors Jazz Ensemble at Brick H.S.

    Brick Township will host the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty’s Ambassadors Jazz Ensemble Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Brick Township High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road. The group of 60 professional musicians is currently touring throughout New England and New York. Their repertoire consists of music ranging from Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Duke Ellington to the contemporary jazz-pop sounds of today.

    Mayor Joseph C. Scarpelli invites the public to “join us for this extraordinary night of jazz performed by some outstanding musicians who are also serving our country in a unique way.”

    The Ambasadors Jazz Ensemble is a component of the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base outside of Boston, Mass. The ensemble is led by Technical Sgt. Andrew Held. A trumpeter, Held had served as a musician in the Air Force since 1989.
