Thursday, Oct. 28 The Florence Township Library will sponsor a Halloween story hour for kids 5 to 10 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kids are invited to wear costumes and a craft and snack will be featured. Call 499-1043 to register.
Harvest Fun Fair
Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30 The Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Florence Township, will offer an alternative to Halloween mischief night and trick-or-treating for area children ages 4 to 12. Parents are invited to bring their children to the campus for an evening of games, clowns and lots of free candy. No costumes necessary and an adult must accompany children. Art show
Friday, Oct. 29 and Saturday, Oct. 30 The Firehouse Gallery, 8 Walnut St., Bordentown, will celebrate "The Wizard of Oz" in a free family-friendly exhibition of photographic monoprints from the movie on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m.

‘Rocky Horror’ performances
Through Saturday, Oct. 30 The Academy Theatre, 146 Route 130, Bordentown, will present performances of Richard O’Brien’s "The Rocky Horror Show" on Friday and Saturday nights. Call 291-9000 for show times. Tickets: $20 advance, $25 at the door.
Trunk or Treat
Sunday, Oct. 31 Trunk or Treat, a free Halloween event, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Columbus Baptist Church, 24260 W. Main St., Columbus. The parking lot will be transformed into a mini-amusement park loaded with games in lots of car and van trunks. Every time you play, you get candy play as often as you like.
The Kidz with a Mission team will perform and a drawing for a free Go-Cart will be held at 8 p.m. You must fill out a registration form completely and be present to win. Call 298-6226 for details.
Women’s Day
Sunday, Oct. 31 The women of St. Paul Baptist will hold the annual Women’s Day at the 10:45 a.m. morning worship at St. Paul Baptist Church, Fifth and Eyre streets, Florence. Guest preacher will be Sister Martha Rudolph. The theme is "Heart to Heart; Bridging the Gap." Musical ministry by the Women’s Day Choir.
Yard sale
Saturday, Nov. 6 The Herb DuBell Fund-raiser, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 45 of Columbus, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Wesley Methodist Church, Main Street, Columbus. The yard sale is a benefit for the DuBell family.

Open house
Saturday, Nov. 6 The Bordentown Community Players will hold a fall open house and membership drive at 8 p.m. in the old auditorium at Rancocas Valley Regional High School, 520 Jacksonville Road, Mount Holly.

Driver course
Tuesday, Nov. 9 and Wednesday, Nov. 10 The AARP Safe Driver Course will be offered for local residents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 42 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road, Jacobstown.
Upon completion of the two 4-hour sessions participants can receive a five-percent discount on auto insurance and have two points removed from their driving record, if applicable. The $10 fee is payable to AARP and may be paid the day of the first class. Class size is limited, so call 758-2746 to pre-register.
Roast beef dinner
Saturday, Nov. 13 Trinity United Methodist Church of Roebling will hold the semi-annual roast beef dinner. Take-out orders will be processed between 4:40 and 5 p.m. Seatings will be at 5 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance from church members ($12 for adults and $10 for kids ages 5 to 12).
Musical performance
Saturday, Nov. 13 The Crosswicks Community Association will continue the second season of live original music events downstairs in the Crosswicks Community House, 480 Main St., Crosswicks, featuring Sloterdijk and special guests. Performance begins at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.)
The Crosswicks Community House will be transformed into an intimate venue to showcase these artists and their otherworldly musical visions. Cost is $5 and benefits the Crosswicks Community Association.
B-Flag social meeting
Sunday, Nov. 14 Bordentown Friends Lesbians and Gays will meet for a social at 7 p.m. E-mail [email protected] to get location and directions.
Men will bring a wine/spirit or soft drink, ladies will bring a finger food to share. Next time we’ll switch and the guys will bring the food. Bring what you like, we just don’t want all of one or the other. This will be a strictly social occasion to meet neighbors and friends, socialize and build new friendships. Couples and/or singles living or working in Bordentown or the surrounding areas are welcome to attend.
Sermon in songs
Sunday, Nov. 14 The Richardson Soul Stirrers, the Sounds of Victory, and the Youth Choir of St. Paul Baptist Church, Fifth and Eyre streets, Florence, will celebrate their anniversary with a "Back Home Hour" sermon in songs and praise dancing by "In His Steps" ministry. The public is welcome.
Atlantic City trip
Sunday, Nov. 14 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Bus will leave St. Mary’s parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. Cost is $15 per person and $17 back from the casino. Call Bob at 298-5530 for reservations.
Thanksgiving luncheon
Wednesday, Nov. 17 Reservations are being accepted for the annual John A. Roebling Seniors Citizens Organization to be held at 1 p.m. at the Town and Country Diner, Route 206. A $5 reservation fee will be returned on the day of the luncheon. Call 499-0670 before Nov. 10 to register.
Young adult conference
Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 "Singleness and Sexuality," a regional conference for young adults, single and single-again adults will be held at the Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Florence.
The free conference will begin Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees must be pre-registered by Nov. 15. Lunch and snacks are included in this weekend event, A free will offering will be taken. Holiday craft show

Patriotic ball
Saturday, Nov. 20 The Bordentown Veterans’ Memorial Fund will hold the 5th annual Patriotic Ball at the Olde York Country Club.

Fall festival
Saturday, Nov. 20 The Lend-A-Hand Society of the First Baptist Church in Bordentown is sponsoring a Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a holiday gifts table with candles, gift baskets, stocking stuffers, crafts, toys and baked goods. All items are brand new and free gift-wrapping is available.
Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. with soup, sandwiches, hot dogs, beverages and homemade desserts. Use side entrance off of Church Street.
