SOUTH BRUNSWICK — A South Brunswick resident died over the weekend after falling down while doing yardwork.
According to South Brunswick Detective James Ryan, the victim, John Rock, 61, was attempting to cut a tree limb from his property Sunday afternoon.
Rock, according to Ryan, was standing on a ladder nearly 35 feet in the air when the tree limb fell, hitting the ladder, causing it to knock over.
Ryan said Rock fell a considerable distance and suffered extensive injuries.
Another person working with Rock witnessed the fall and contacted help.
The Monmouth Junction First Aid responded and transported Rock to a construction field at Deans Rhode Road where he was transported by medic helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Rock, who was listed in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries, according to Ryan.
