HOWELL — Bobbie Ruloff is one of the people who rose well before dawn to make sure Tuesday’s election ran smoothly and according to law. Ruloff, 92, accompanied Township Clerk Bruce Davis to all 30 polling locations. She has more than 50 years worth of service in the electoral process. Davis said Ruloff is as important an assistant to his Election Day duties now as she has always been.
Ruloff retired in 1981 after serving for more than 25 years as Howell’s deputy clerk.
Davis, who also serves as township manager, was just starting his tenure as Howell’s clerk as Ruloff was retiring. He said that since Ruloff retired, she has never missed working on Election Day with him.
According to Davis, in addition to working every election since her retirement as a volunteer, “because she enjoys being in-volved in the pro-cess,” Ruloff re-mains a pillar of the Southard Fire Company Ladies Auxliary and an active volunteer at Howell’s Senior Center.
Davis said he has always respected her expertise and intelligence, while remaining in awe of her energy and continued independence.
“She’s an amazing individual. I can’t say enough about her. I wouldn’t even know where to begin,” said Davis.
