University president to be honored

LAKEWOOD — Rosemary E. Jeffries, president of Georgian Court University, will be honored for her service and leadership on Nov. 5 at a fund-raising dinner and award ceremony to be held at Caesars Casino in Atlantic City.

Jeffries became the eighth president of Georgian Court University in 2001. A native of Ocean City, she earned her doctorate in sociology and a master’s degree in public communications from Fordham University, and holds a master’s degree in religious studies from Princeton Theological Seminary and a bachelor of arts in art education from Georgian Court College.

Jeffries held titles with the Sisters of Mercy of New Jersey, including director of communications, member of the Leadership Team and vice president from 1998 until 2001 when she assumed the helm at Georgian Court. She was also the director of communications for the Diocese of Trenton and held positions of pastoral ministry and teaching.

“I am proud of so many aspects of Georgian Court. In addition to our goals and mission, we boast an increasing number of students in our graduate school, achieving university status, a number of partnerships with other institutions, and a master plan campaign to expand and improve our facilities,” the president said.

Jeffries currently serves as a member of the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton-Ocean County Advisory Board; as a member of the Tri-State Catholic Committee on Radio and Television; and as chairwoman of the Tri-State Advisory Board for Thirteen, WNET in New York City.
