Roast beef dinner
Saturday, Nov. 13 Trinity United Methodist Church of Roebling will hold the semi-annual roast beef dinner. Take-out orders will be processed between 4:40 and 5 p.m. Seatings slated at 5 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance from church members ($12 for adults and $10 for kids ages 5 to 12).
Live music
Saturday, Nov. 13 The Crosswicks Community Association will continue the second season of live original music events downstairs in the Crosswicks Community House, 480 Main St., Crosswicks, featuring Sloterdijk. Also performing their brand of "pyscho-ambient space rock from another dimension" is Scattered Planets (www.scatteredplanets.com). Performance begins at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.) No children under 15 will be admitted.

B-Flag social meeting
Sunday, Nov. 14 Bordentown Friends Lesbians and Gays will meet for a social at 7 p.m. E-mail [email protected] to get location and directions.
Men will bring a wine/spirit or soft drink, ladies will bring a finger food to share. Next time we’ll switch and the guys will bring the food. Bring what you like, we just don’t want all of one or the other. This will be a strictly social occasion to meet neighbors and friends, socialize and build new friendships. Couples and/or singles living or working in Bordentown or the surrounding area are welcome to attend.
Sermon in songs
Sunday, Nov. 14 The Richardson Soul Stirrers, the Sounds of Victory, and the Youth Choir of St. Paul Baptist Church, Fifth and Eyre streets, Florence, will celebrate their anniversary with a "Back Home Hour" sermon in songs and praise dancing by the In His Steps ministry. The public is welcome.
Atlantic City trip
Sunday, Nov. 14 The Knights of Columbus No. 570 is sponsoring a bus trip to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Bus will leave St. Mary’s parking lot at 4:30 p.m. for a four-hour stay at the casino. Cost is $15 per person and $17 back from the casino. Call Bob at 298-5530 for reservations.
Bordentown Marsh program
Monday, Nov. 15 Friends for the Hamtilon/Trenton/Bordentown Marsh will meet at 7 p.m. at Bow Hill Mansion, end of Jeremiah St., Hamilton. Program will consist of slides of the marsh by photographers Mary Ann Borge and Jeff Worthington and a discussion of steep slope conservation issues and methods by Ken Taaffe, resource conservationist. Thanksgiving luncheon
Wednesday, Nov. 17 Reservations are being accepted for the annual John A. Roebling Seniors Citizens Organization luncheon slated at 1 p.m. at the Town and Country Diner, Route 206. A $5 reservation fee will be returned on the day of the luncheon. Reservations were due Nov. 10.
Young adult conference
Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 "Singleness and Sexuality," a regional conference for young adults, single and single-again adults will be held at the Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Florence.
The free conference will begin Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendees must be pre-registered by Nov. 15. Christmas bazaar
Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20 The Trinity United Methodist Church will hold the annual Christmas Bazaar on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m.
Tables will feature crafts dishcloths, beaded banners, a cake and pantry cupboard, homemade candy, and a "This and That" sale. Trash or Treasure (on second floor) will be open from 9 a.m. to noon both days. Santa will be there for the children and pictures with Santa will be taken Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Soup-and-sandwich luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The snack bar will be available Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as a buffet-style baked ham dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. (Tickets for adults, $10; children ages 5 to 12, $5; take-out orders, $11).

River clean-up
Saturday, Nov. 20 Boy Scout Troop 13 will join the Bordentown City Cat rescue group at 9 a.m. to clean up the river clearing at the bottom of Park Street. This area is in need of some major attention after a season of picnicking and also as a result of the tremendous flood in September that covered the entire beach.
The joint effort will satisfy the badge requirements for the Boy Scouts as well as keep the area presentable as part of an ongoing effort to help the feral cat population in ways that also benefit the community of Bordentown City. Call 324-3896 for details.

Saturday, Nov. 20 The Friends of St. Mary’s School will hold a holiday craft show and bake sale. The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s School hall in Bordentown City and will feature basket and vacation raffles. For information or table reservations ($20), call Sue at 324-9082.
Patriotic Ball
Saturday, Nov. 20 The Bordentown Veterans Memorial Fund will hold the fifth annual Patriotic Ball at the Olde York Country Club.

Fall festival
Saturday, Nov. 20 The Lend-A-Hand Society of the First Baptist Church in Bordentown is sponsoring a fall festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a holiday gifts table with candles, gift baskets, stocking stuffers, crafts, toys and baked goods. All items are new and free gift-wrapping is available.
Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. with soup, sandwiches, hot dogs, beverages and homemade desserts. Use side entrance off of Church Street.

Art talks
Sunday, Dec. 5 The four art galleries in Bordentown City will hold the first "Art Talks" from noon to 6 p.m.
Four galleries will present four seminars. The Firehouse Gallery will present "Finding Gems" by Eric Gibbons at noon and 3 p.m. The Bordentown Gallery will present "The Local Scene" by John Schroeder at 12:45 and 3:45 p.m. The PAVS Gallery will present "Functional Art" by Daiga Henson at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. The Artful Deposit will present "Art as an Investment" by C.J. Mugavero at 2:15 and 5:15 p.m.
Refreshments will be served. Cost is $5 per ticket for four seminars. Tickets are available at the four gallery locations, Walnut and Farnsworth Avenue.

Sunday, Dec. 12 The Roebling Historical Society will hold its Historic Village of Roebling Christmas House Tour from 3 to 7 p.m. Homes built by John A. Roebling’s Sons Co. will be featured.

Holiday carriage rides
Sunday, Dec. 12 Bordentown City Gardens is offering tickets for a carriage ride through the city. Rides are $12 and will leave from the Friends’ Meeting House on Farnsworth Avenue.

Crossing guard jobs
The Bordentown City Police Department is accepting applications for the position of crossing guard. Part-time and full-time positions are available.
Anyone interested in working while the kids are in school, having off when they have off from school and making a few bucks is welcome to come to police headquarters, 324 Farnsworth Ave., for an application.
WIC program
The Burlington County Women Infants and Children (WIC) program has a clinic site at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Bordentown. If you are pregnant, have an infant or preschool child and are having trouble making ends meet you may be eligible for the program.
WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and kids younger than 5. Eligibility is based on income and nutritional and/or medical risk. WIC can provide infants with iron-fortified formula, cereal and juice. Women and children receive milk, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice, peanut butter or beans. Women who breastfeed and do not use infant formula may receive carrots and tuna. Call 267-4304 for details.
