Letter insults Americans, those serving in military

I feel compelled to respond to a recent letter published in the Hub from Ms. Margaret Rice Moir, which I find insulting to both the American people and to the honor of those who serve in our military. Someone must inform the lady that the election is over and her side lost, not “under mysterious conditions” as she claims, but because almost four million more Americans voted against her candidate than voted for him.

Second point — since Ms. Moir rails against “rich Republicans,” must we assume Democrats are more intelligent voters because they are poor? Sounds like hypocrisy from someone who lives in Fair Haven, and voted for a man whose wife is named Heinz.

But most importantly, Ms. Moir does a great disservice to dedicated Americans — whose party affiliations and D & B ratings we do not know — who have sacrificed more than Ms. Moir ever will for what they believe. Apparently our concerned friend sees people like Pat Tillman — and hundreds of others who volunteered to serve — as mere dupes who need her concerned protection from themselves and the Bush war machine.

Come on, Ms. Moir. Isn’t it time you reached across the aisle and sought to heal the divisiveness, which all concerned Americans claim to despise?
