Occasionally, you read something that makes you say, "I wish I’d written that." This piece in The New York Observer by Nicholas Von Hoffman, which calls on liberals to stand up to the "superstition and obscurantism" of our current age, is just that kind of piece.
Robert Kuttner in The Boston Globe offers a less vitriolic take that focuses on America’s pluralism and the danger that the red-state/blue-state storyline poses (my Dispatches column this week, which will appear in the South Brunswick Post tomorrow, but appeared in The Cranbury Press on Friday, treads on some of the same ground).
