MANVILLE Walter J. Guzik Sr. died Sunday at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 87.
Born in Newark, he lived in Manville all his life.
Mr. Guzik worked for many years as a maitre’d and bartender, retiring from the Villa Restaurant in Bridgewater in 1994.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville.
He was a member of the Manville-Hillsborough Elks.
His wife, Olga Guzik, died in 1990; and a son, Gregory died in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Walter J. Jr. of Manville; a daughter, Arleen D. Tylecki of Point Pleasant; three sisters, Sophie Keleman of Manville; Nettie Chumra of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Stella Buchovecky of Somerville; one grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 17 from Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hillsborough.
