Lionel J. “Lee” Coulombe
Mr. Coulombe, 82, of Matawan, died Nov. 11 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He resided in Milford, Conn., before moving to Matawan 43 years ago. Mr. Coulombe was a research engineer at Singer Manufacturing Co., Elizabeth, for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a pilot during World War II. He was a life member of Washington Engine Company of Matawan Fire Department. Mr. Coulombe is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stella; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Lee Coulombe Jr. of New York City, David and Christine Coulombe of Freehold, and Paul W. Coulombe of Matawan; a daughter, M. Celia Coulombe of New York City; a brother, Raymond Coulombe of LaGrange, Ga.; two sisters, Claire Phalen of Milford, Conn., and Rita Nomejko of Arkansas; and four grandchildren. Interment took place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. The Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville, was in charge of arrangements. Helen D. Noumair
Mrs. Noumair, 83, of Asbury Park, died Nov. 11 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Asbury Park, she resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bergen County before moving back to the Monmouth County area in 1968. Before her retirement, Mrs. Noumair was the recreation director at Macy’s, New York City, where she was responsible for 10,000 employees. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Deal, where she was a Eucharistic minister and reader at Mass. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Asbury Park and a former president of the club’s board of trustees. She also was a volunteer for the Bergen County Executive Council, a Girl Scout troop leader, president of the Woman’s Club of Allendale, and was active with the American Red Cross. Mrs. Noumair was predeceased by her first husband, Martin E. Husing, in 1967. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Edward Noumair of Deal; three daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Husing Katz and Richard Katz of Tinton Falls, Janice Marie and Alan Husing-Gentry Rushforth of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Diane Noumair Belloit and Nick Belloit of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Patty Noumair of Patterson, N.Y., and Edward and Pamela Noumair of Howell; and four grandchildren. Ronald T. Gasdia
Mr. Gasdia, 82, of Manalapan, died Nov. 11 at home. Born in Newark, he had lived in Irvington before moving to Manalapan 39 years ago. Mr. Gasdia was a shop steward for Local 560 in Union City for 15 years before retiring in 1978. Prior to that, he was a private ticket broker and was treasurer for the Brooklyn Academy of Music for 10 years. Mr. Gasdia was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Manalapan. He was predeceased by his wife, Josephine, and a son, Frederick, in 1994. Mr. Gasdia is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Berath Gasdia, of Highland Park, Bonny Gasdia, of Englishtown, and Bianca and Nick Vacca, of Manalapan; a brother, Frank Gasdia, of Downey, Calif.; a sister, Eileen Barker, of Turnersville; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Thomas More Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. The Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge, was in charge of arrangements.
Gert Feldman
Mrs. Feldman, 95, of the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan, died Nov. 11 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in New York for 85 years before moving to New Jersey 10 years ago. Following her retirement, Mrs. Feldman served for many years as president of her Queens apartment building. After moving to Manalapan, she remained active and was instrumental in helping those in need in the Covered Bridge community. Mrs. Feldman was predeceased by her husband, Philip. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Neil and Jan Feldman, of Marlboro; a sister, Sylvia, of Chicago; three grandchildren; and her friend Karen. Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.
Mary Chojnacki
Mrs. Chojnacki, 43, of Jackson, died Nov. 13 at home. Born in New Brunswick, she was raised in Old Bridge and had lived in Freehold before moving to Jackson seven years ago. She was a graduate of the duCret School of Art, Plainfield, and was an accomplished weaver and spinner. She was a homemaker for the past four years and had previously been employed in the display department at J.C. Penney Co. Inc. in East Brunswick and Freehold. She was a communicant of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Jackson. Surviving are her husband, Robert John Chojnacki Jr.; a son, Robert John Chojnacki III, at home; her parents, Robert N. and Catherine Battaglia Rider of Old Bridge; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Denise Rider of East Brunswick; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Larry Harris of Freehold, Rita and Tom Birardi of Jackson, and Janet and Paul Babbitt of Magnolia, Ark.; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Carol Chojnacki of Marlboro; and eight nieces and nephews. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, followed by interment at Harmony Cemetery, Jackson.
John Joseph Kilijanski
Mr. Kilijanski, 89, of Lanoka Harbor, died Nov. 11 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Bayonne, he was raised on the Curtin Farm in Millstone and later became its owner, working as a farmer until age 50. Following his farming career, he worked locally as a project manager for The Austin Co., based in Chicago. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Forked River, and a former parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mr. Kilijanski enjoyed volunteering in the community for various churches and hospitals. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Leo Kilijanski. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis, and two brothers, Stanley Kilijanski, of Brielle, and Ziggy Kilijanski, of Florida. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
Marion R. Matthews
Mrs. Matthews, 80, of Freehold, died Nov. 13 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in California, she was a part-year resident of Cocoa Beach, Fla., where her mother and sisters lived. She graduated from Jersey City Medical Center and began a career in nursing, retiring in 1993 from the John L. Montgomery Medical Home, Freehold Township. She was an active parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Freehold. Mrs. Matthews was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy McGreevey. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Colleen and Ken Frank of Fredericksburg, Va., Ann and Glen Thomson of Salisbury, N.C., and Mary Ellen Matthews of Freehold; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Thomas and Barbara Matthews of Allentown, Stephen Matthews of Locust, Douglas and Mary Lou Matthews of Liberty, Pa., and Kevin and Kim Matthews and Edward and Janet Matthews, all of Freehold; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
