Lucien J. Matte
MANSFIELD Lucien J. Matte, 83, of the Homestead section of Mansfield Township died Nov. 27 in Virtua-Memoria Hospital in Mount Holly.
Born in Lowell, Mass., he had resided in Ridgewood for almost 40 years before moving to Homestead in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre on the carrier USS Saratoga. He had retired as a computer operator with the Passaic-Clifton Herald News where he had more than 30 years of service.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Springfield Golf Club. He was also an amateur genealogist and a computer enthusiast. He was a member of St. Mary R.C. Church and the Knights of Columbus in Ridgewood.
The husband of the late Anne T. Matte, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, L. Jeffrey and Mary Matte of Lawton, Okla. and Thomas Matte of Ridgewood; three daughters and a son-in-law, Karen A. Matte of Madison, Jeanine L. Matte of Washington, D.C. and Elaine J. and Alan Mut of Houston, Texas; a brother, Omer Matte of Dracut, Mass.; a sister, Rita Croteau of Lowell, Mass; and three granddaughters, Megan Anne Matte, Michelle Mary and Nicole Anne Mut.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday in St. Mary Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown with burial following in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.

Mary S. Rhoades
BORDENTOWN Mary S. Rhoades, 96, died Nov. 25 at Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly. Born in New Brunswick, she retired after 45 years of employment from Capital Transit, Trenton.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Bordentown and a member of the Bordentown Seniors.
She is survived by a sister, Evelyn G. Maley of Bordentown; a nephew, John J. Maley of Bordentown; a niece and her husband, Kathleen and John Schweppenheiser of Tabernacle; many other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Mary’s Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment followed at Bordentown Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown.
Anna T. Woitowicz
BORDENTOWN Anna T. Vannozzi Woitowicz, 78, died Nov. 25 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton.
Born in Trenton she grew up in the Chambersburg section of Trenton. She was a member of the Trenton Central High School Class of 1944.
She was a Hamilton resident for 47 years, and was a longtime member of St. Raphael’s Church and Choir. She worked as a bookkeeper for Lenox in Trenton and later retired in 1988 as a bookkeeper from Modern Iron Works in Trenton, and moved to Bordentown in 1997.
Daughter of the late Evaristo and Italia Vannozzi, and sister of the late Ralph E. Vannozzi and Phyllis V. Askey, she is survived by her husband, Matthew T. Woitowicz Sr. of Bordentown; a sister, Cecelia Casey of Princeton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Johnny Vaughan of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lisa A. and Mark D. Pizza of Bordentown; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew T. and Ellen L. Woitowicz Jr. of Moorestown; and grandchildren, Jennifer L. Miller, Gary F. Miller and his fiance Sarah Snyder, Olivia A. Woitowicz and Stella C. Woitowicz.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, Hamilton. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Jean Benice Samedi
BORDENTOWN Jean Benice Samedi, died Nov. 24 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.
Jean Benice was born in Trouin, Haiti. He grew up in that town and got married February 1944 to Marie Julienne Simon. He entered the United States on Aug. 23, 1988 to live as a permanent resident.
He was a resident of Ewing Township until October 2003, then moved to Bordentown from that time until his death.
Mr. Samedi worked as a sawmill worker and a farmer when living in Haiti. In the States, he worked at Scanticon Hotel as a dishwasher for eight years before retiring in January 1992.
Jean Samedi was predeceased by his wife, Marie Julienne, in July 1994 and his daughter Anite, who departed in January 1984.
He left behind an older sisTer, Ivelia Samedi, and nephew, Jean Juleneau Exume living in Haiti; his children Benirus, Emile and Paul Thomas; three daughters-in-law, Michelle, Camita and Claircilia; also Nana; 16 grandchildren, Donald, Benedict, Monise, Francoise, Louise, Fautine, Julienne, Paul Thomas Jr., Silvina, Luc, Emilienne, Benito, Jean-Renel, Betty, Magdala, Roseline; five great-grandchildren, Morrissa, Garnise Revolus, Tyler Eloizard, Ian Benedict and Bendriny; four nephews and one niece, Riberne Samedi, Jean Levy Deravil, Alexandre and Frantz Saintilma and Josette Samedi Desarne.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Capital Assembly of God, Hamilton with Pastor Wilner Charles officiating.
Interment was in the Ewing Cemetery, Ewing. Arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
Anna F. Walker
Anna F. Walker (nee Harrington) of Wilmington, N.C., age 87, died on Nov. 24.
Wife of the late James H. Walker Jr., mother of Anne Marie Bartlett of Wilmington, N.C. and Joan Loch of Bayville. Also survived by a granddaughter, Jennifer Baca of Wilmington, N.C., step-grandchildren, Sean and Kristen Loch of Chico, Calif., two nieces, Maudie Daniels of Sebring, Fla. and Lois Boggs of Croyden, Pa. and several grandnieces and nephews.
Born in Camden, she spent her early life in Hatboro, Pa. and Baltimore, Md. Her 42 years of marriage to James H. Walker were spent mostly in Deptford until moving in 2000 to Bordentown and subsequently in 2001 to Wilmington, N.C.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday ay the Foster-Warne funeral Home, Haddon and Lees Avenues, Collingswood. Interment was in Harleigh Cemetery, Camden.

Perry Lee Coffee
MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP Perry Lee Coffee, 57, died Nov. 23 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., he had resided in this area for many years.
Mr. Coffee was the founder and owner of Kar Karrier, an automobile transport service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in combat in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church, the Chesterfield Fire Company and was a former member of the Bordentown Rotary Club.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Michelle and Bob Grello of Lumberton and Annaclaire Myers of Burlington; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Nicole Coffee of Southampton; his mother, Lois Coffee of Lynchburg, Va.; two brothers Rick Coffee of Lynchburg, Va. and John Coffee of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley and Corinne; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Chesterfield Baptist Church with burial following in the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.

Louis A. Latham
FARMINGVILLE, N.Y. Louis A. Latham, 61, formerly of Bordentown, and Davie, Fla., died Nov. 20 at his home.
Mr. Latham was employed by Expo Design Center as a regional trade manager for many years. He also worked at Carter Wallace in Cranbury, was an active member of his church, the Delaware Valley Umpire Association, and the NJSIAA Football Officials.
Son of Rita and the late Victor Latham of Daytona Beach, Fla., he is survived by his wife, Beatrice, of 20 years; his two sons, Joseph of Farmingville, N.Y. and Anthony of Ewing; his daughter, Andrea, of Hightstown; a sister, Teresa Cirelli of Florida; and brothers, Victor of Texas and John of Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting services were held Monday on Long Island at Moloney’s Lake Funeral Home, 132 Ronkonkoma Ave, Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. with religious services following.
Charitable contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, Catholic charities or a charity of choice.
Eldon R. Brown
BORDENTOWN CITY Eldon R. Brown, 80, died Nov. 18 at his residence.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, he had resided in the area since 1948.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He saw action in the "Battle of the Bulge" and was captured by the German Army as a prisoner of war. He later escaped the prison camp with a Russian prisoner of war. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Husband of the late Virginia (Truet) Brown, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and John Pizzadili of Bear, Del.; a sister, Peggy Ball of California; two brothers, Richard Brown of Mantua and Frank Brown of Maine; two grandchildren, James and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and announced by the Huber-Moore Funeral Home of Bordentown.
