Michael Kelco

   MANVILLE — Michael Steven "Kelly" Kelco died Nov. 23 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. He was 79.
   Born in Croton, he moved to Manville in 1930.
   Mr. Kelco was employed at Johns-Manville Corporation for 40 years and a member of their Quarter Century Club.
   He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290 in Manville.
   Mr. Kelco was a member of the fire company for over 50 years, as a life member and an Exempt Fireman serving as a Line Officer for the Manville Fire Co. No. 3 for 10 years before becoming chief for all Manville fire companies in 1968 until 1970.
   He was a member of the Croton Rod and Gun Club and the National Rifle Association.
   Survivors include his wife, Clara Jean "Shafer" Kelco; four sons, Michael John of Hillsboro, N.H., David Paul of Raritan, Steven Michael of Manville and Andrew David of Peapack; a daughter, Lucille Simoncelli of Manville; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services were held Nov. 27 from Fucillo and Warren Funeral Home in Manville, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at Christ the King Church in Manville. Burial was in Newell Cemetery in Stanton.
