The Robbinsville Basketball Association (RBA), formally known as Washington Township Basketball Association (WTBA) opened its eighth season this past weekend.
The league has grown from 180 kids eight years ago, to 640 last year, and now has 665 kids, for grades 1st through 8th.
GIRLS 1-2
Martinez Remaxers played a great game against Foxmoor Friendly’s in the opening game of the season. Both teams played exceptionally well and had tons of fun.
Rusert’s Deli played an awesome game against S.A.F.E. All of the girls on Rusert’s Deli played great defense and played with a great effort on offense. For S.A.F.E., Samantha Young scored the only basket, but everyone played hard and put forth a great team effort.
Rusert’s Deli played a good game against Tony’s Farm Market in the season opener. Rusert’s Deli played strong both offensively and defensively. On Tony’s Farm Market, Rebecca Caplinger scored eight points, Olivia Armstrong scored four points, and Amanda Giordano and Theresa Demkovitz scored a basket each. Mackenzie Bayless, Nicole Cox, Michaela Petito, Cara Szkudlapski and Nicole Friedberg had a great offensive game.
BOYS 1-2
Maximo Verducci played an excellent game against Karl Mey’s Collision. Matt DeAngelis led Maximo Verducci in scoring, assisted by Brandon Valentin’s awesome play on offense. Kevin Ezzo and Kyle O’Kane played tough on defense. For Karl Mey’s Collision, Austin Mayweather, Chris Sellers, Matthew Mazalewski and Brett VanTassel led on offense. Zachary Clarke, John McArthur and Nick Sale played stellar defense. Stephen and Ryan showed really great leadership on the court.
S.A.F.E. played a great game against LEK Medical Billing, LLC. LEK Medical played an excellent game. Danny and Tommy McKiernan, and Michael Kowalski led S.A.F.E.’s great team effort, all scoring four points. Collin Clark, Louis Raimondi, Arnav Vast and Ari Rosen also scored. Every player on S.A.F.E. scored and demonstrated good hustle.
Shooting Stars played a tremendous game against Children’s World. Children’s World gave an outstanding effort in their first game, led by Brandon Klein Alec Karousatos, Chris Steward and Ryan Gross on offense. Connor Bauer, Michael Daytona, and the rest of the team played tight defense. Good game guys!
A&M Gardens played an outstanding game against Mercer Group. Austin Bralynski played very well offensively. Danny Mazer, played excellent defense. Everyone played with a ton of enthusiasm in a well played, first game of the season.
Washington PAL played a tough game against Chris Hill’s Remaxers. Chris Hill’s Remaxers’ Ryan Krebs, Anthony Palmer, and Alex Matt provided the scoring. John Riggs, Sal Mandreucci, and Danny Sangford anchored the defense. Both teams did a great job on the court.
GIRLS 3-4
Solution Quest won over Piazza & assoc. 17-14. Both teams played their best, which made for a very exciting game.
Lozier, Lazzaro, and Sweetster won over Brace Place 22-16. Lozier, Lazzaro, and Sweetster or the "Oreos" showed a great team effort in an exciting win. Melissa Sullivan controlled the boards with 6 rebounds and Lauren Fischer lead all scorers with 8 points. Brace Place was played a really tough game and was led by Hannah Binder and Julia Kardos on offense. Emily Austin and Kaitlyn Seymour played great defense.
Paint Pro won over Daphne’s Restaurant 12-8. The girls on Paint Pro were outstanding on defense. Allison Whitty and Lauren Schmid were the lead scorers. Rachel Searby and Emily Martin showed excellent hustle and the whole team put forth a great effort. Daphne’s played a great game. The girl’s tough defense was provided by Addie Calabro, India Gupta, Anisha Mohan and, Jessica Samel. Alexandra Wilczynski, Tori Sankey, and Noelle Fahey led the way on offense.
Hamilton Physical Therapy won over WTEA 8-6. In a well-played defensive game, Kirby Brazelton scored the key 4th quarter basket. Lauren Piccione and Kelly Koss played outstanding defense while, Emily Kratz and Abigail Schneider controlled the boards. After being down 6-0, The WTEA "Zipping Zebras" scored 6 in the final two quarters thanks to baskets from Gabriella Mandreucci, Erin Wojton, and Aditi Vast. The entire Zebra team played awesome defense.
R&V Hall Construction won over Vet Care Center 20-14. On a very exciting game R&V Hall’s Brielle Sailor, Caitlin O’Connor, Dana Spain, Lexi Campion, Jen Consiglio and, Danielle Rackowski all scored important baskets while, Emma Cook and Diana Rackowski played great defense. Vet Care Center’s Chelsea Scott was high scorer and the team played great as a whole.
BOYS 3-4
Washington Chiropractic won over NYTG 20-17. Mark Carnevale, Nathan Smith and, Daniel Gavrushenko poured in 6 points each while, Thomas Biscardi added 3 points. Tyler DeMartin had an incredible steal and played tenacious defense. All NYTG players played good team defense. Jordan Mazer scored 12 points, Troy Hoffman scored 3 points, and Brandon Johnson added a basket. Tyler Gafgen and Zach Bryan played all around great games.
Allied Vision won over M2Z Engineers 22-13. Steve Krebs scored 12 points and Shawn Flynn added 8 points as Allied Vision played great defense to open the season with a win. Mason Cueto scored 5 points, Craig Hunter 4 points, followed by Qasim Muzaffar with a bucket in M2Z Engineers’ first game.
Schillaci Builders won over Rim Rattles in a very tough season opener. Schillaci Builders had a very well balanced offense and great rebounding led the team to a victory. Dominic Schillaci, Don McAnany, Antonio Scavo, and Tyler Bowen led an aggressive defense. Timmy Nemaize, Drew Desandre, Cole Anker, Kellen Anker, and Luke Lucas supported the offense.
Taylorapp.com won over NIKE 24-18. Ryan Hayes scored 12 points and Greg Michal added 6 points in a great team effort by Taylorapp.com. Tom Taylor grabbed 9 rebounds and Tyler Sankey had 5 steals, 4 points, and 6 rebounds. Mike Colonna had 6 points for NIKE, followed by Kyle Russo and Nick Sprang with 4 points, and Tommy Lynch and Rob Colonna with a basket each. Alec Ulisse, Taylor Heiniman and Sean Lynch played good defense.
R.K. Kitchens won over Kingston Garage 25-18. The game was played with high intensity. J.J. McGuigan led R.K. Kitchens with 10 points, followed by Drew Clark with 6 points. All players were very involved in a great defensive game. Kingston Garage’s scoring was led by Jimmy Matt with 10 points, followed by Anthony Geisler with 4 points, and Sam Achempong and Joshua Conception each with a basket. Nick Ferraro, Scott Kurzeja, and JT Bucsek, played great defense. Alex Sauerbaum, and Josh Conception produced outstanding rebounds.
Kubiak Electric won over NYTG 14-12. Nathan Kubiak led the scoring with 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. C.J. Gearhart grabbed 5 rebounds and a blocked a shot. Matt Demara added 4 points as well. For NYTG, Jordan Mazer scored 6 points and played great defense. Both teams played tremendous defense and showed a ton of awesome teamwork.
GIRLS 5-6
First Washington Stated Bank won over Viking Painting 17-15. Lauren Kardos playing her first game led First Washington. Lauren led an aggressive defense that contained the opponent’s high-powered offense. Viking Painting fought a hard game. Kasey McKiernan and Sami Kleiber led the offense while Mollie O’Kane’s defense kept the Vikings in the game. Keep up the hard work ladies!
Moldworks won over Lozier, Lazzaro, and Sweetster 17-6. Nicole Yap scored 9 points and had a number of steals. Alison Guido and Allissa scored 4 points. Masooma Muzaffar had 3 blocks and 10 rebounds. Nicky Hyams, Caitlyn Reyes, Katelyn Agabiti, Katie Killeen and, Heather Tossi all played outstanding defense. Jackie Lazzarro, Nikki Ann Francisco, Meghan Hayes, and Lauren Budzinski led Lozier, Lazzaro, and Sweetster’s offense. The team showed great ball movement by Antoinette Lugossy, Reilly Sheehan and excellent defense by Nina Nayak, Amanda Korbar, and Nina Anderson.
Massimos won over Appaya 19-17. Jaclyn Francis scored 8 points and Nicole Gerdes Scored 9 points for Massimos. Radhika Appaya blocked 3 shots for Appaya Financial Services and, Amanda Orlak played a great defensive game along with Amanda Matyas and Nicole Johnston.
Loizer, Lazzaro & Sweetster won over Donmar Business Services 16-8. Megan Hayes led Sweetster’s offense with 6 points, Lauren Budzinski and Nina Anderson each had 4 points, along with a bucket from Jackie Lazzaro. Amanda Korbar, Nicki Ann Francisco, Nina Nayak, and Antoiette Lugossy played defense aggressively. Good game ladies!
BOYS 5-6
Joseph D. Kaplan & Son won over Central Perk & Bagel in the first game of the season. Kaplan pulled out the win behind Sam Sparella’s 10 points, Nick Niezgoda’s 8 points, Alessandro Ragusa’s 6 points, Nick Ulisse and Andrew Friedman’s 4 points, and Billy Tharp’s 2 points. Jimmy Lynch, Tom Bell, and Tom Halsey played strong defense in the win. Central Perk & Bagel had balanced scoring led by Kris Weigand and Adam Vorraso. Ryan Hegedus pulled down 5 rebounds. Mike hit a jump shot from the corner to give CPB an early lead.
H&H Gas won over APCO Petroleum in the first game of the season. H&H Gas showed a great team effort with scoring from Steven Kowalski, Adam Dublas, Nick Villa, Stephen May, David Bossie and Kyle Masterpole. Austin Lazarus, Joe Walsh, Brian Wood, and Anirudh Bandu supplied great defense and rebounding. APCO played a tough game. Joe Imch and Alec Regulski played great defense. Sean Buecker and Kyle Banas led the offense.
RWJ@Hamilton won over Ostrich Nursery 23-19. By hustling on defense and moving the ball well on offense, RJ@Hamilton came up with a season opening win. Ryan Mayer led the offense with 11 points followed by, John Demkovitz scoring 6 points, Zack Zielinski with 4 points, and Billy Lovering with a bucket. Ryan Winnick, Sean Pethybridge and, Jared Hobson combing for 12 rebounds, played great defense. Ostrich Nursery played a great first game. Jason Dilts, Ryan Zuczek, Ralph Petagna, Arcilio Rhette, Anthony Sanguine, Eric Yureje, Ryan Fleming, and Mike Polito all played well on both sides of the ball.
State Farm won over Pipeline Tech. 22-19. State Farm’s tough team defense edged Pipeline to a win. Sam Burum led the scoring with 12 points. Steven Hodul added 4 points followed by Joe Vito, Brett Davidowski and Austin O’Connor with key baskets. Tymoor Rahoumi, Julian Jiggets, Carson O’Connor, Mark Dziubas, and Tyler Margotta led state’s tight "D". Pipeline had a great comeback led by Shawn Karagjozi, Matt Mindich, Matt Samel, Sean Calabro, and Chris Karaousatos. Tough defense was played by Harley Pollack, Sean Donoghue, Matt Cannizzaro, and Tamay Kayande.
GIRLS 7-8
Paint Pro won over Lucas Electric. Dani Demkovits led the scoring with 9 points for Paint Pro followed by, Eppiphany Polk with 4 points and 14 rebounds, Katie Noonan with 2 points and 14 rebounds. Rachel Balint, Sara Sowards, and Nicki Matyis added two points as Paint Pro played a masterpiece of a game. A great effort by the Lucas Electric team, but they fell "short" to towering the Paint Pro team. Priya Nambiar, Katie Gavalchin, Casey McGuigan, and Danielle Douglass scored ore the team. In a balanced attack, Paint Pro played very well; they must be well coached.
Daphne’s Restaurant won over Executive Prompting 16-13. Great opening season game to all the girls. Amber Scott and Tamara Rahoumi led Daphne’s with 6 points and, Cynthia Reyes and Samantha Remy with 2 points led offense. Jaya Nambiar and Katelyn Wilczynski gave great defense. Executive Prompting had a great comeback in the season opener. Ashley Schindewolf, Magan Lunny, and Kelsey Loriquet led the team on offense, while Silpa Sprinivas, Allie Haftel, Jasmine Young, Hallie Fasanella and April Kemp played solid defense.
7-8 BOYS
Gus Siggelakis Attorney defeated PBA, 24-15. PBA put out a good effort and showed a lot of hustle. Ryan Bralynski had the high score for Siggelakis with 10 points. Theo Siggelakis scored seven points and also led in rebounds. Team captain Danny Killeen led the offense and had five points. Alex Szaro, Daniel Orlak, and Jimmy Schaller played a great game and Ryan Leader made his foul shots.
KCI Insurance defeated National Pools, 25-19. Andrew Matyas led KCI’s scoring with eight points, followed by Jelani Feutar’s 7 points and Jimmy Challender’s six. Andrew Stephens and Michael Stechman played excellent defense. John Bird and Chris Woidall added numerous rebounds.
