OBITUARIES: Ellen Pisnov

Ellen Pisnoy
   Ellen I. Leibowitz Pisnoy, 71, of Concordia, died Friday, Dec. 3, at her residence.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Ms. Pisnoy lived in Freehold for more than 33 years before moving to Concordia three-and-a-half years ago. With her husband of 54 years, Jerome, she owned and operated a number of dry cleaning establishments including Nu-Concept Cleaners of Old Bridge, and Michael’s Dry Cleaners of Deal, Oakhurst and Freehold. She retired eight years ago.
   Ms. Pisnoy was a great cook who loved to eat. She enjoyed playing mah jongg and collecting antiques. She was also active in the Concordia Players and the Chorale Group at Concordia. Ms. Pisnoy was a longtime member of the Brandeis University Women.
   She is survived by her husband, Jerome; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Suzanne Pisnoy of Staten Island, N.Y., and Michael and Rosie Pisnoy of Jackson; her daughters and son-in-law, Michelle and Jeffrey Ashen of North Brunswick, and Cindi Pisnoy of Monroe; her brother, Lionel Leibowitz of Florida; and her grandchildren, Jessica Ashen, Whitney Ullman, Margo Pisnoy and Amanda Gawron.
   Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 5, at Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Home, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Interment followed in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
