EAST WINDSOR — A township man pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault and theft by deception in two separate cases Monday and will serve six years in prison.
Abdullah K. Lance, 24, of Daniel Street admitted he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl between January and June 1999 in East Windsor, Mercer County prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Casey DeBlasio said.
Mr. Lance also admitted to the court that he had written two bad checks in 2002 from Fleet Bank, she said. The checks totaled $4,100, Ms. DeBlasio said.
She said he will be required to pay back the money as part of his plea agreement.
Also as part of the agreement, some original charges against Mr. Lance including aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, attempted aggravated assault and forgery will be dismissed during his sentencing on Feb. 27, Ms. DeBlasio said.
Superior Court Judge Bill Mathesius is requiring Mr. Lance to be psychologically tested, she said.
Ms. DeBlasio said if it is determined that Mr. Lance is a repetitive and compulsive sex offender he will serve his sentence of six years for the sexual abuse charge and concurrent four years for the theft charge at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center at Avenel.
If Mr. Lance is deemed not to be a repetitive sex offender, then the New Jersey Department of Corrections will determine where he will serve out his sentence.
She said Judge Mathesius decided he also must register his address under Megan’s Law when he is released from prison.
