Last season Northern Burlington County Regional High School boys’ varsity wrestling star Al Wonesh did not lose a single match.
Yet, this past Saturday the Greyhounds’ spectacular 152-pounder managed to lose and still impress people.
That’s because Wonesh made it all the way top the finals in the prestigious Jackson Invitational Tournament before falling to Ocean Township’s Mike Fantini midway through the second period (3:18) on a pin.
NBC’s heavyweight Johnny Humble also gave a great showing and made it to finals where he was beaten by Jackson’s Joe Slisky on a first-period take down.
Overall the Greyhounds did well in what is always one of the toughest tournaments of the season. NBC will now be off until December 29 when it will compete in the Hunterdon Central Tournament.
