Developer will install new Rt. 33 traffic light

  • Howell officials took the first step in the process of having a traffic light installed at the intersection of Colts Neck Road and Route 33. A blinking light is presently in place at the intersection.
  • A resolution passed by the Township Council will prompt the state Depart-ment of Transportation to start the process that will ultimately result in the installation of the traffic signal, according to attorney Sal Alfieri, who represents Crawford Holdings LLC, Holmdel.

The installation of the traffic signal will be paid for by Crawford Holdings, which is the developer of a 495-unit adult community to be called Colts Neck Crossing. The community will be built on the Route 33 property on which the Flame motel presently sits. The landmark motel will be razed to make way for the residential development.

Colts Neck Crossing received Plan-ning Board approval in July. Crawford Holdings is now seeking Planning Board approval for the commercial component of the project.

According to Alfieri, Crawford Holdings will begin installing the new traffic light once it receives the necessary state approvals.
