Montgomery slates Christmas tree collection

MONTGOMERY — The Township Department of Public Works will be starting curbside holiday tree collection on Monday.
This collection may take several days. Trees placed on the curb after Monday may not be picked up.
As an alternative, an area at the Department of Public Works site, located off Harlingen Road, will be set up to receive the trees. This site is available until Jan. 31.
All trees either to be picked up or dropped off must be free of tinsel and ornaments. Questions may be directed to the Department of Public Works at (908) 874-3144.
The Somerset County Park Commission will also be accepting natural Christmas trees for recycling every day during daylight hours until Jan. 31 at Colonial Park Parking Lot F, 156 Mettlers Road, East Millstone or North Branch Park, 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater, at the northernmost parking lot.
Each family is limited to one tree, which must be free of all ornaments, wires, netting and tinsel. Discarded trees are chopped into chips, which are used to mulch plantings in the park system. Chips will be available at no charge to the public at each drop-off site. For further information call (908) 722-9292 and press 6.
