OCEAN TOWNSHIP — A 60-year-old newspaper delivery man had a gun pointed at him after making a delivery to an Ocean Township residence on Sunday, police said.
The victim ran into police headquarters at approximately 5:38 a.m. and reported that someone had just pointed a gun at him in front of a Monmouth Road residence, according to Detective Sgt. Jeffrey Layton.
The victim was visibly shaking at the time he reported the incident, Layton said.
The victim reported that he had parked his car in front of the customer’s house and walked to the front door to deliver the paper.
As he was returning to his vehicle, a car containing three passengers pulled up to him and the front-seat passenger allegedly leaned out the window and pointed a handgun at him, police said.
Officers located the vehicle the victim described pulling into a nearby Monmouth Road home.
Anthony H. Bowe, 24, Neptune and William Galayda, 24, Westfield Street, were arrested and transported to police headquarters.
It is believed that Galayda was the individual who was pointing the gun at the victim, Layton said.
A pellet gun was located in the car and recovered along with narcotics and two counterfeit $50 bills.
Bowe’s 1994 Infinity was seized pending forfeiture, according to reports.
Bowe was charged with possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy to possess a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and attempting to utter a forgery.
Galayda was charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, aggravated assault and attempting to utter a forgery.
The third passenger in the car, Daniel J. Smith, 24, Overbrook Avenue, turned himself into police on Jan. 10 and was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
All subjects were released on bail.
