Jewish youth group collects clothing for children

Members of the United Synagogue Youth (USY), Brick Chapter, are collecting gently used warm clothing for needy children in the community. Among the items already donated were several hand-knit, brand new, youth sweaters which were made and donated to the drive by Marion Zelman of Temple Beth Or. USY, Brick Chapter members attend Brick, Howell, Point Pleasant and Toms River high schools and belong to Temple Beth Or. The youth groups in the regional district are responsible for doing social action work throughout the community, not just the synagogue family. According to a press release, one of the goals of this youth organization is to support, both financially and through good deeds, the idea that the youth of the Jewish community are an integral part of the secular community. Those who wish to contribute to the clothing drive should call (732) 458-4700.
