A Manville man narrowly escaped being stabbed in an alleged road rage attack Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on West Frech Avenue.
Richard Wolfgang, 45, of West Frech Avenue was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief after he lunged at another driver with a steak knife, police said.
The incident began after Mr. Wolfgang accused the other driver of tailgating him, according to police.
Police said the man dodged Mr. Wolfgang’s repeated attempts to stab him, but Mr. Wolfgang then picked up the man’s baseball cap, which had fallen to the ground and put the knife through it.
The two men left the scene and Mr. Wolfgang was arrested at his home later that afternoon, police said.
Investigators recovered two knives and a club from Mr. Wolfgang’s car, police said.
