MONTGOMERY — The Environmental Commission will be conducting an Earth Week planning meeting 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Building’s large conference room. All community groups and leaders or residents who wish to participate in Earth Week events are invited to attend.
Earth Week will be held from April 18-23. During the week, the township urges groups to pitch in to clean up a neighborhood, roadway, park, stream bank, retention basin or any other area.
"Every year, we want to make more and more people aware," said Community Information Officer Tamara Garaffa of the efforts happening during Earth Week. Ms. Garaffa explained that the week accommodates "individualistic" efforts. The Department of Public Works will have the necessary cleaning supplies on hand, said Ms. Garaffa, and groups can participate at a time that is suitable for them.
Those who plan to attend the preliminary meeting should respond to Jan Narayan at [email protected]. Give the name of the contact person for the group and its e-mail address.
The snow date for the meeting is Jan. 19.
"We strongly urge you to lend a hand in any way you can to keep Montgomery green," said Ms. Garaffa in a statement on behalf of the township. "It’ll be simple, we’ll all get some fresh air and have some fun while working together to help our community and environment."
