To the editor:
The proposed development located on the corner of Finnegans Lane and Route 27 is causing our family great concern.
Traffic on Finnegans Lane is already at dangerous levels, with a number of serious accidents very close to this location. From our house, we either see or hear these accidents occurring far too often; the majority of these occur at the intersection of Kathy Street and Finnegans Lane.
Attempting to make a left turn onto Finnegans Lane from Kathy Street can be nearly impossible at times due to the on-coming traffic. We believe that the addition of a new shopping area will create significantly more traffic and would create a greater driving hazard in our immediate area.
Often during rush hour or when Finnegans Lane is backed up, we see vehicles speeding down Kathy Street and Kory Drive, with drivers attempting to circumvent the Finnegans Lane traffic. Kory Drive goes directly past Brunswick Acres School. There are many children who walk back and forth to the school and most intersections in Brunswick Acres do not have stop signs.
This increased traffic volume creates dangerous conditions for our children.
The proposed development would increase the noise, pollution and traffic. This will effectively lower the quality of life and resale values for Brunswick Acres residents. Trucks would be coming and going making deliveries to each of the proposed buildings; and this would wreak havoc for Brunswick Acres residents.
We purchased our homes with certain expectations: to live in a safe neighborhood and to live in a quiet and clean neighborhood. This proposed development would significantly deteriorate the quality of life that we currently enjoy in our South Brunswick homes.
