Man was found in possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute in Hightstown High School parking lot.
A man in a parked car in the Hightstown High School parking lot has been charged with intending to distribute heroin, police said.
James Russo, 26, of Robertson Road was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone with intent to distribute on Jan. 8 at 1:29 p.m.
At that time, Sgt. Glen Runge was working a security post at a school wrestling match when spectators fingered a man in the parking lot who was cooking heroin in a spoon, police said.
Sgt. John Reppy and Patrolmen Frank Marchione found 86 decks, or bags of heroin, in the car. Seven of the decks were full and trace amounts of heroin were found in the remaining 79 decks, police said. The drugs were valued at $860.
Mr. Russo also was charged with distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle.
Bail was set at $5,000 with a 10 percent option. Mr. Russo was released after posting the option.
