BORDENTOWN CITY
Police charged a Yardville man with driving while intoxicated after police say he drove his car into a utility pole at the intersection of Crosswicks and Second streets Sunday.
Around 12:30 a.m., police said, officers responding to a single car accident call found 26-year-old Anthony Rinaldi sitting in his car against a pole. According to the report, Mr. Rinaldi ran a stop sign at the intersection, lost control of his car and hit the pole. Police said he was not injured and that officers smelled alcohol on Mr. Rinaldi’s breath.
After failing sobriety tests, Mr. Rinaldi was charged with DWI, and in addition with careless driving and reckless driving. He was released to the custody of a family member, pending a court date.
Police charged Steve Lally, 39, of Bordentown with driving while intoxicated after a routine traffic stop at 11:51 p.m. Jan. 11.
According to police, officers spotted Mr. Lally’s car swerving from the far left lane to the far right lane of Route 130/206 before coming to a stop in the middle of the intersection at Crosswicks Street. At the stop, police said, officers smelled alcohol on Mr. Lally’s breath.
After failing sobriety tests, police charged Mr. Lally with DWI, plus reckless driving. He was released to a family member’s custody, pending a court appearance.
Police are seeking information regarding a would-be break-in to a resident’s van on Jan. 11.
According to police, a Chestnut Street resident reported that someone had tried to break into his locked work van sometime during the overnight hours. While the would-be burglar did not get in, police said, the van suffered an estimated $300 in damage.

FLORENCE
Police charged a 23-year-old Lawrenceville man with a string of drug offenses at 2:22 a.m. Jan. 15.
According to police, officers spotted Joseph Romeo making an illegal U-turn from Route 130 into the Wawa market parking lot on Cedar Lane. At the stop, police said, officers smelled burnt marijuana. Police said officers found suspected marijuana and prescription pills in Mr. Romeo’s car. After failing field sobriety tests, police said, Mr. Romeo was charged with possession of prescription drugs, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, driving under the influence of drugs, failure to maintain a lane and possession of drugs in a motor vehicle.
He was released on his own recognizance, pending a court appearance.
