MONTGOMERY Williams Co., owner of the Transco natural gas pipeline that cuts through the township, will host a public workshop 6 p.m. today at the Elks Lodge in Blawenburg to gain input about a possible addition to the pipeline.
Williams anticipates that it will add approximately 3½ miles of pipe in Somerset County and has identified a 7-mile study area along its existing pipeline right of way. The pipeline study area runs south from Branchburg Township to Route 601 near the 3M-entrance road.
The proposal is currently in the planning phase.
"It is important to us that all interested stakeholders are given an opportunity to review the study area and provide feedback," said a statement from Williams Co. "The comments gathered during this planning phase will help shape the project scope."
