A Flemington woman was charged with being a fugitive from justice early on the morning of Jan. 18 as a result of a traffic stop.
At 1 a.m., police stopped Kristin Kablis, 23, after a random plate inquiry showed she was wanted out of Pennsylvania for failing to appear on drug charges.
Ms. Kablis was brought to Hunterdon County Jail where she was held on $20,000 bail.
Robert Ferrono, 45, of Lambertville was arrested on two outstanding traffic warrants after nearly striking a police car.
Police were on Quarry Street when Mr. Ferrono allegedly pulled into oncoming traffic after being parked facing the wrong direction, police said. As Mr. Ferrono pulled out, his vehicle narrowly missed striking the patrol car head-on, police said.
A check of Mr. Ferrono’s license revealed he had two active warrants issued for his arrest by Lambertville and Greenbrook Township, police said.
Mr. Ferrono was charged with careless driving and released after posting $193 bail.
Police arrested Wayne B. Housel, 47, of 61 Coryell St. Jan. 20 in connection with an alleged bias incident that occurred at about 10 p.m., police said.
Mr. Housel is accused of shouting offensive, anti-homosexual epithets and threatening physical harm to the victim, who resides on Coryell Street, police said. The encounter occurred in front of the victim’s residence.
Mr. Housel was taken to Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $2,500 full cash bail.
An investigation led jointly by the Lambertville and West Amwell police departments led to the arrests of three individuals wanted for numerous commercial burglaries and thefts.
John Heasman, 35, and Eugene Ferris, 53, both from Lawrenceville, have been charged with burglary and theft in relation to burglaries that occurred in both Lambertville and West Amwell.
In addition, Joni Smeraldi, 30, of Hamilton has been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary in connection to the thefts.
During December, the area had been plagued with several burglaries that involved the theft of tools and power equipment from local contractors and storage facilities. The losses amounted in tens of thousands of dollars.
The defendants are being held at Hunterdon County Jail while awaiting a court date at Superior Court Hunterdon.
Additional arrests are pending.
Michael Lazar, 41, of Cheltenham, Pa., was arrested Jan. 15 at 8:20 p.m. on an active traffic warrant issued by Pennsauken Township for failure to appear.
Police stopped Mr. Lazar for traveling 51 mph in a posted 35-mph zone on Route 165.
The warrant was revealed after a subsequent check of Mr. Lazar’s license. Mr. Lazar posted $272 bail and was released.
Christopher Williams, 34, of Lambertville turned himself in to police Jan. 11 at 9:30 p.m. on an outstanding traffic warrant issued for his arrest from Lambertville for failure to appear.
He posted $89 bail and was released.
Tracy Thompson, 36, of Doylestown, Pa., turned herself in to police Jan. 14 at 4:40 p.m. on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the city for failure to appear.
She posted $140 bail and was released.
Jan. 19, police ended a three-month investigation of a residential burglary that happened in November with the arrest of John Hoff, 19, of Linvale-Harborton Road, Lambertville.
Mr. Hoff is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief to an auto.
This burglary occurred while the victims were away on vacation, police said. Police said Mr. Hoff burglarized the home and used the residence for several day and the victims’ vehicle. He damaged the vehicle while driving it and putting the vehicle back into the garage, police said.
The investigation is continuing; additional charges are being looked at.
Mr. Hoff was taken to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
The arrest was made with the cooperation of the New Hope Police Department.
Jan. 19 at 2:10 p.m., there was a one-vehicle traffic accident on Sugan Road, south of Cuttalossa Road.
A vehicle driven by Michele Blockinger, 40, of Leslie Lane, Doylestown, Pa., was going on Sugan Road when she lost control on the snow-covered road, crossed the road and hit a tree.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.
Jan. 19 at 3 p.m., there was a two-vehicle accident on Aquetong Road, south of Old Windy Bush Road.
A vehicle driven by Thomas P. McLaughlin, 32, of Madison Avenue, Langhorne, Pa., was going east on Aquetong Road, and a vehicle, driven by Sarah M. Komendat, 22, of Inlet Road, Levittown, Pa., was going west when the accident happened.
No injuries were reported. One vehicle was towed.
Jan. 19 at 9 p.m., there was a one-vehicle accident on Route 32, south of Greenhill Road.
The vehicle was driven by Connie R. Vick, 57, of Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia. She was going north on Route 32 when she lost control, slid off the roadway and struck a large rock, police said.
The vehicle was towed. No injuries were reported.
