Students were guests of the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Hopewell Valley Central High School students Will Fabrizio, Andrew Freeman, Desiree Grace and Maureen Gallagher were honored for outstanding achievement in volunteerism to the Hopewell Valley Alcohol and Drug Alliance at the fourth annual Mercer County Municipal Alliance Recognition Dinner at Diamond’s Riverside Restaurant on Jan. 12.
The presentation was made by Mercer County Alliance Coordinator Camille Bloomberg and Local Area Committee on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Chairman Patrick L. Ryan.
Each student received a certificate of award signed by County Executive Brian Hughes and Mr. Ryan.
The students, their parents, Hopewell Valley mayors or their designees and key Alliance staff and volunteers were the guests of the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
The students volunteered to serve with a committee of community leaders to assess risk and protective factors in Hopewell Valley and establish priorities for the work of the Alliance for the coming year.
"Will, Andrew, Desi and Maureen exemplify the caring, confident, and responsible youth we are so proud of in Hopewell Valley," said Alliance Chairwoman Sheryl Stone. "It was a thrill to see them honored and a privilege to work with them."
The Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance facilitates coordination and communication between community groups, municipal governments, schools, and faith communities as together we collaborate to address substance abuse issues and promote healthy communities and healthy youth in Hopewell Valley.
