Robert J. Honey Jr.
ROEBLING Robert J. Honey Jr., age 59, of Roebling, died Sunday in Virtua Memorial Hospital of Burlington County, Mount Holly.
Mr. Honey was born in Manhattan, N.Y., the son of the late Robert John Sr. and Frances McGowan Honey. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968.
A 1964 graduate of Dunellen High School, Mr. Honey served on the Florence Township Board of Education from April 1998 until April 2004. He coached Little League, Babe Ruth and also Recreational Basketball. He helped with the FAAD Canteen and various PTO activities, including the Prom Fashion Show.
He was a strategic planning analyst, employed by PSE&G in Bordentown, with 36 years service.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Federico Honey; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher Honey of Roebling, Robert John Honey III of Berkeley Hights, Michael and Suzanne Honey of Stirling; two sisters and a brother-in-law, June Donovan of Dunellen, Dorothy and Tim Baker of Chapel Hill, N.C., many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

H. Vernon Wedell
COLUMBUS H. Vernon "Dick" Wedell, 87, of Columbus, died Saturday in Virtua-Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. A lifelong resident of Columbus, he had retired as a dairy farmer. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in both the Asiatic-Pacific and the European-African-Middle Eastern theatres where he earned numerous medals including the Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star. He was an exempt fireman and member of the Franklin Fire Co.
He was the former mayor and member of the Township Committee, the Mansfield Township School Board and the Burlington County Dairy Farmer’s Association. An avid sportsman, he was a member of the Pioneer Gunning Club. The son of the late William and Ida Bullock Wedell, brother of the late Virginia Rossell and grandfather of the late Charles Van Mater Jr., he is survived by his wife, Bettie (Reeves) Wedell; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Irene Wedell of Michigan; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis W. Craig and Albert E. Magson of Columbus; two brothers, John of Lumberton and Dorrance of Alabama; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Wednesday from the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown.
Memorials may be made to either the Franklin Fire Company or the Mansfield Township Ambulance Squad.
Robert H. Deacon
MOORESTOWN Robert H. Deacon, 78, of Moorestown and formerly of Bordentown, died Jan. 21 at the Evergreens in Moorestown.
Born in Bordentown, he had resided there all of his life until moving to Moorestown three years ago.
He was a graduate of William MacFarland High School, Rider College, and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had retired as the chairman and CEO of BMJ Financial Corp.
He was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he chaired the Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees, Board of Christian Education, and served as the church moderator. He was a past president of the Bordentown Rotary Club and the New Jersey Bankers Association. He also served on the Federal Reserve Board of Philadelphia and was a director of Church Brick Company. He also served as the president of the Burlington County United Way.
He was the son of the late George and Helen Wood Deacon; he is survived by his wife Kathryn (Sharp) Deacon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas of Manahawkin, Thomas and Merrill of Alexandria Township, and Roger and Jane of West Chester, Pa.; a brother, George F. of Lakewood; a sister-in-law, Betty Corson of Moorestown; grandchildren Lindsay, Natalie, Courtney, and Matthew; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday from the First Baptist Church, 127 Prince St., Bordentown.
Memorials may be made to either the First Baptist Church or the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Martin D. Potash Sr.
BORDENTOWN Martin D. Potash Sr., 83, died Jan. 18 at St. Francis Medical Center, Trenton.
Born in Dunmore, Pa., Martin was a resident of Bordentown since 1955.
He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he earned numerous medals for many acts of bravery including a Soldier’s Medal and Purple Heart.
He was a retired captain with the New Jersey State Police after 28 years. During his tenure, he co-founded the Trooper Youth Week Program, was commandant of the New Jersey State Police Training Academy at Sea Girt, and completed his tour as director of Civil Defense. Following his retirement, he served as chief of police in Bordentown and later served as chief of investigations with the Department of Transportation.
He was the past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy of the Bordentown Elks 2085, a lifelong member of the D.A.V. of Hamilton, Collings Foundation (B-24 Historical Society), a parishioner at St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, and one of the six original co-founders of the Goat Hill Gophers Golf Club established in 1948. He was a coach and manager for many area football, basketball and baseball teams.
He was a very patriotic man who loved his country and family. Brother of the late John, George, Steve, Andy, Joe, Mary, Ann, Paula, and Julia Potash; he is survived by his wife Edna (nee Willett) Potash; one son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Laura Potash Jr. of Peachtree City, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara Potash of Westhampton; one granddaughter, Brenna Clare Potash; and several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Huber-Moore Funeral Home, 517 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 480 Centre St., Trenton.
Interment followed in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township.
Bordentown Elks conducted a service followed by a New Jersey State Police service.

Donald R. Petty
Donald Petty of Greenacres died on Jan. 16 at the age of 84. Born in Trenton, he was a World War II veteran, serving with the 8th Air Force in England and France. Prior to moving to Florida 12 years ago Mr. Petty and his family were longtime residents of Bordentown.
Mr. Petty retired after 30 years as Superintendent of the printing Department of CFI Steel Co. after CFI purchased the John A. Roebling Co. Mr. Petty then worked for 10 years for the State of NJ Department of Education. He was an active member of the Bordentown Elks Club 2085 and the Crescent Temple Shriners.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gloria E. Petty, his daughter Sharyn J. Michalczyn and her husband Peter of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and his son, Donald R. Petty II and his wife, Christine of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Margaret Orban
BORDENTOWN Margaret Mudra Orban, 86, died Jan. 9.
Born in Trenton, Mrs. Orban was a lifelong resident of Roebling and Bordentown.
Daughter of the late Michael and Julia Erdei Mudra, mother of the late Louis J. Orban III, and wife of the late Louis J. Orban Jr. She is survived by three grandchildren and spouses Michelle and Raymond Hartmann, Kelly and Robert Schubert, and Michael Orban; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Mackenzie and Danielle Hartmann, and Cody and Madison Schubert all of Bordentown; her sister Julia Heisler of Millville and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass 9 a.m. today, Thursday, in St. Mary’s Church, Bordentown.
The family will receive friends from 8:45 a.m. to time of Mass at the church.
Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
