To the editor:
The year 2005 is still in its infancy but we have already witnessed an extraordinary development in what may prove to be an extraordinary year indeed.
In his speeches and public appearances, U.S. Sen. "Teddy" Kennedy is emerging as the "Moral Values" spokesman for the Democratic Party.
What else does this year hold for us?
Here are my prognostications:
Ex-Gov. "Jimmy" McGreevey will become the Eastern Coast Moral Values Spokesman for his party.
"Rummy" Rumsfeld and "Wolfey" Wolfowitz will resign from the Defense Department and become leaders of the Peace Now movement.
Osama "Benny" Laden will declare a truce and be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
"The Donald" Trump will forsake the glories of the world and retire to a Trappist monastery.
With luminaries like these, Anno Domini 2005 may yet prove to be one of the most interseting years in these interesting times.
Oh, and don’t you think those nicknames make them all just so friendly and folksy?
