Montgomery tsunami benefit nets $2,000

MONTGOMERY — A Jan. 15 tsunami relief benefit recital sponsored by Parents of Young Musicians Association and Young Musicians for Volunteer Action was successful, organizers said, raising more than $2,000.
The recital featured more than 50 musicians, ages 4 through 19, performing various pieces to collect donations for victims of the Dec. 26 tsunami.
"This event is a model for collective community work and shows the power of unity and organization," said Bob Witanek, founder of Parents of Young Musicians Association.
"While we are certainly satisfied with the amount of funds that were raised, we believe that Montgomery Township, a relatively affluent neighborhood, with a thriving business community, can do much more," he said.
