BORDENTOWN CITY
Police are searching for a pickup truck reported stolen from the Exxon gas station on Route 130/206 Monday morning.
According to police, a 1996 white Ford pickup that had been left at the Exxon for repairs was reported stolen around 11 a.m. Police said the truck is valued at approximately $3,500.
Anyone with information is asked to call city police at (609) 298-0103.
A Trenton man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police said an officer witnessed him run a red light on Feb. 3.
According to police, Patrolman Shaun Lafferty spotted 41-year-old Todd Such run the light from Crosswicks Street onto Route 130/206 around 1:10 a.m. Police said that at the stop, Patrolman Lafferty discovered Mr. Such had been drinking.
After failing sobriety tests, Mr. Such was charged with DWI, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and failure to observe a traffic signal. He was released to the custody of a friend, pending a court date.
City police are accepting applications for the position of crossing guard. Full- and part-time positions are available. Police said it is an ideal job for retired persons, mothers who have kids in school who would have the same days off as their kids.
FLORENCE
Police charged a Burlington woman with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after responding to a call about an unwanted person at the Northview Motel on Route 130 Monday.
According to police, officers checked out the call around 3 a.m. and found the room’s two occupants, Robin Townsend, 29, and Alexander Harmon, 49, both of Burlington were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants. Ms. Townsend, police said, was wanted on a no-bail contempt of court warrant issued by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Office while Mr. Harmon was wanted on a $1,487 warrant out of Springfield.
A search of Ms. Townsend’s purse yielded a crack pie with drug residue in it, police said. Ms. Townsend was then charged taken to the Burlington County Women’s Minimum Security Facility in lieu of $2,664 bail, police said.
Mr. Harmon was turned over to the Springfield Police Department, police said.
Police charged two men with possession of marijuana after a speeding stop along Route 130 last week.
According to police, officers spotted a black 2000 Land Rover speeding northbound along Route 130 just after 2 a.m. Feb. 2. After stopping the truck in the Wawa parking lot near Cedar Lane, police said they smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, 28-year-old Larry Person of Willingboro. Police concluded on the basis of field sobriety tests that Mr. Person was drunk, police said.
While still at the scene, police said, officers spotted a half-burnt marijuana cigarette on the passenger side floor mat. A search of the vehicle found a second cigarette in the ashtray, police said. Police then charged the passenger, 30-year-old Rodney Reid of Trenton with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
Mr. Person was charged with the same offense, plus driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, speeding, careless driving, driving while suspended and hindering his own apprehension. He was taken to the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $4,500 bail.
Mr. Reid was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
