WW open space group re-elects leader

WEST WINDSOR — The Friends of West Windsor Open Space held its 10th annual meeting last week and re-elected Michael Schuit as president of the organization.
At its meeting, the FOWWOS board elected Ron Slinn of Penns Neck as a trustee, voted to extend the terms of trustees whose terms had expired and re-elected its current officers to one-year terms. The board also re-appointed Bob Kenny as its legal counsel for another year.
The board also reviewed the status of properties expected to be acquired in the near future, including the 12-acre Rogers property in Grovers Mill and an 8-acre property bordering the Millstone River. The board also reaffirmed a resolution requiring all open-space tax funds be spent solely on the acquisition of open-space properties and their maintenance.
Founded as an independent 501(c)(3) corporation, FOWWOS has been instrumental in the acquisition of more than 1,600 acres that have been preserved as open space by West Windsor Township.
The organization’s next monthly meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. March 1 at the municipal building.
