Gas main line rupture closes Nassau Street

A gas main rupture closed Nassau Street and a couple of businesses for several hours Saturday.
Residents of Pine Street, near Nassau Street, detected a strong natural gas odor around 4 p.m., police said, and members of the police, Princeton Fire Department and Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squared responded to the scene.
The Blue Point Grill and the Nassau Street Seafood Market were evacuated and closed, police said.
Crews from Public Service Electric and Gas Co. worked through the night to repair the broken gas main, police said. The road was opened on Sunday morning.
The cause of the gas main break is unknown, but the leak stemmed from a gas pipe under the westbound lane of Nassau Street, police said.
There were no reported injuries, police said.
