Brian J. Cross

Mr. Cross, 63, of Middletown, died Feb. 11 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he relocated to Middletown 34 years ago. He was a computer programmer at Philips Van Husen, Bridgewater, the past eight years. Mr. Cross is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda Douglas Cross; four sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Donnell Cross of Belgium, and Brian D. Cross, Douglas P. Cross and Patrick T. Cross, all of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Steven Dunning of Jackson; his former wife, Nancy Cross of Lakewood; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Feb. 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Anthony C. Marotta

Mr. Marotta, 93, of Matawan, died Feb. 8 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., he resided in California prior t moving to Matawan. He was a retired maintenance employee at Delta Airlines. He was also a furrier and cutter in the New York City and California garment districts. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. He is survived by a sister, Grace Emond of Matawan; and a niece and her husband, Valerie and Michael Geerer of Danbury, Conn. A Memorial Mass will be Feb. 18 at St. Benedict’s Church. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Arrangements are by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Joan C. Richardson

Mrs. Richardson, 68, of Middletown, died Feb. 1 at home. She was a lifelong resident of Middletown. She was a contract specialist at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 23 years. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Red Bank. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Richardson in 1978. She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Richardson of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and David Klemm of Middletown; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and James Osborne of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Harley and Richard Richardson; and a granddaughter. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.

Joan J. Provina Slutter

Mrs. Slutter, 71, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Feb. 1 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, she resided in Union Beach prior to moving to Middletown more than 50 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William Slutter in 2004; two grandsons, William Brent Malizia and Thomas Richard Malizia; and a brother, Robert Provina. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marie Jo and John Malizia of Belford; a sister and brother-ion-law, Carol and Leonard Paulin of Belford; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mary Bruno Polle

Mrs. Polle, 92, of Hazlet, died Feb. 10 at Ocean County Medical Center, Brick. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 20 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was an original member of Middle Road Village. She was predeceased by her husband, George Polle. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Ann’s Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Fred E. Schweitzer

Mr. Schweitzer, 78, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Feb. 10 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Mountainside, he resided there prior to moving to Cliffwood Beach 53 years ago. He was a retired type maker at American Type Founders, Elizabeth, where he was employed 46 years. He was also a school crossing guard in Aberdeen for eight years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet G. Schweitzer in 1996; a daughter, Ellen Schweitzer in 1955; and a son, Thomas Schweitzer in 1968. He is survived by a daughter, Jane Delaney of Howell; a son, John Schweitzer of Matawan; a brother, Arthur Schweitzer of Garwood; a sister, Evelyn Infantino of Kenilworth; and five grandchildren. Mrs. McMorrow, 95, of Freehold, died Feb. 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Meriden, Conn., she was a longtime Monmouth County resident and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold. A graduate of Middletown’s Leonardo High School, she trained in 1929 at Jersey City Medical Center to become a registered nurse. While a supervisor of nurses at various hospitals, she was awarded a bachelor of science in nursing education from New York University and also took graduate courses at Jersey City State College and other institutions. She later worked in Minnesota, becoming director of nurses at two hospitals. When she returned to Freehold in 1964, she worked at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital as a nurse supervisor and was subsequently employed by the state Department of Institutions and Agencies. After retiring in 1979, she worked weekends as the school nurse at Monmouth College, West Long Branch and volunteered at CentraState. In addition, Mrs. McMorrow was a member of both the Freehold Seniors and the St. Rose Seniors, and a lifetime member of the Western Monmouth YMCA. She was very active as well in various alumni associations. An avid reader, she was also a sports enthusiast who enjoyed attending professional golf and tennis tournaments. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. George J. and Kathryn McDonnell. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, J. Patrick and Barbara McMorrow of Freehold Township, David G. and Kathy McMorrow of California, and George and Cindy McMorrow of Ocean Township; a daughter, Arline Fulton, at home; six grandchildren, including Daniel Fulton of Matawan and Tara and Caitlin McMorrow of Ocean Township; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, at 11 a.m. Feb. 21. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, is in charge of arrangements. Helen Jane Loso

Mrs. Loso, 74, of Old Bridge, died Jan. 31 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in South Amboy, she resided in Perth Amboy and Keyport prior to moving to Old Bridge in 1994. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing the accordion, piano, and organ, and played accordion professionally during the 1940s. She was a parishioner and active member of the community of Jesus The Lord Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was an organist at the church from 1982-1994 and also taught CCD. She was a former president and vice-president of the resident council at Madison Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Old Bridge, where she resided. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, George C. Loso in 1996. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Peter Aurilio of Old Bridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Francis “Frank” and Annette Loso of Aberdeen; and one granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Jesus The Lord Church. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Amboy. Arrangements were by Bedle Funeral Home, Keyport.

William J. Lindsay

Mr. Lindsay, 96, of Keyport, died Feb. 12 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Claysville, Pa., he resided in Newark, Union Beach and Florida before moving to Keyport in 1980. He was employed at Tingley Rubber Company, Edison, before his retirement. He was a communicant of Lincroft Bible Church, Lincroft section of Middletown. He was a member of the Keyport Senior Citizen Center. Mr. Lindsay was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Lindsay; a brother; and three sisters. He is survived by two sons, Donald Lindsay of Red Bank and James Lindsay of Kissimee, Fla.; a daughter, Joyce Adams of Oldwick; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jeanne Cerra

Mrs. Cerra, 49, of Howell, died Feb. 3 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was a secretary at accounting firm Kelson & Merves LLC, Howell. Prior to that, she was an office manager at Johnson and Johnson, Hightstown, for several years. Mrs. Cerra was a communicant of St. Veronica’s Roman Catholic Church, Howell. She was active in the PTA and the Boy Scouts of America, both Howell. She was predeceased by her father, Vincent J. Cerra Jr., in 1994. Mrs. Cerra is survived by a son, Robert Thomas Pullen, and two daughters, Amy Mae Pullen and Chelsea Pullen, all at home; her mother, Irene Toye Cerra of Wall; a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent J. and Kim Cerra of Keyport; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lucy and Gerald Melillo of Manalapan, Patricia M. Cerra of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Irene and Joseph Kerber of Neptune City. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Veronica’s Church, followed by burial at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. Arrangements were by O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. Barbara A. Brown

Mrs. Brown, 68, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Feb. 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in the Middletown area most of her life. She was a retired shop steward at Lily Tulip, Holmdel, where she was employed several years. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Noren Jan. 11. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edmund S. Brown; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edmund C. and Francine Brown of Middletown, Richard E. and Laura Brown of Hamilton Square, and Kenneth C. and Cynthia Brown of Middletown; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa A. and Brian Bragg of South East Palm Bay, Fla., Lori A. and Michael Taylor of Freehold, and Lynel A. and Steven Lepkoski of Middletown; two brothers, Robert Noren of Las Vegas, and Bruce Noren of Chapman Boro, Tenn.; and two sisters, Sheila Campisi of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., and Sandra Sandifur of Spring Hill, Fla.
