Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, will observe National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month during March with the program “Reducing Colorectal Cancer Risks” March 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa, Long Branch. The free program will be given by Steven Shiff, M.D., a chairman at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and associate professor of medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The lecture is being funded through gifts made in memory of Sal DiPietro, the late husband of Monmouth Medical Center physician Wendy Shertz, M.D. Preregistration is required and may be made by calling (732) 923-6886.

Monmouth University, West Long Branch, has announced the selection of Calvin Williams, Elberon section of Long Branch, as its associate vice president for instructional services. Prior to joining Monmouth, he was director for teaching, learning and technology in the Department of Information Technology at Seton Hall University, South Orange. Prior to that, Williams was assistant director of the division of information technology, learning technology and distance education at University of Wisconsin — Madison; and assistant director of the center for teaching, learning and technology at Bowling Green (Ohio) State University. He received his master’s degree of library information science at Rutgers University, and bachelor of arts degree at Rutgers College, both New Brunswick.

United Teletech Federal Credit Union, Tinton Falls, has named Patricia M. Hansen as director of marketing and community relations. She will be responsible for creating and executing marketing plans, branding initiatives, advertising, Internet communication, and outreach to the community. Hansen has 11 years of experience in marketing and community relations, including eight years at Bayshore Community Health Services, Holmdel, as the director of corporate public relations and marketing. She also worked three years at Memorial Medical Center, South Amboy. Hansen holds a master of arts degree in corporate and public communication from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, and a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where she graduated with highest honors. She and her husband, William, reside in Freehold with their two sons.

United Teletech Federal Credit Union (UTFCU), Tinton Falls, recently named Shireen Davis as the new director of product servicing and support. Davis has been employed by UTFCU for approximately five years and most recently served as the manager of collections and product servicing. She will provide support and service to the members of the credit union and to the front-line staff.

Prior to joining UTFCU, Davis was a business specialist for Fleet Bank, Long Branch, and was an elementary school teacher and part-time college lecturer in business and finance in Trinidad, West Indies, for six years. A resident of Neptune, she has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Thomas Edison State College, Trenton, and a bachelor of arts degree in social science from the University of the West Indies.

Ralph W. Wyndrum Jr., CEO of Executive Engineering Consultants, Fair Haven, and business development director of SmartOrg Inc., was elected to serve as president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers–USA in 2006. He will serve as president-elect in 2005.

Wyndrum served as vice president of the IEEE Publications Activities Board and the Technical Activities Board. He began his IEEE affiliation at Columbia University, New York, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in engineering, as well as a master of science degree in business administration. He received his doctorate in engineering from New York University.

Wyndrum held various positions at Bell Laboratories from 1963-96, when he was appointed technology vice president at AT&T Labs. He was named program planning and management vice president in 1999. Wyndrum teaches at Rutgers University and has authored more than 40 technical papers and textbook chapters.
