The Sayreville Recreation Wrestlers participated in the annual Edison Tournament Jan. 16. Taking first place were Tyler Scott, Noel Santiago and Ramon Santiago. Taking second place were Matthew Pestonit, Gary Siriday, Andrew Viens and Daniel Brereton. Third-place winners were Dylan Kelleher, Anthony Pestonit, Joshua Casiano, Patrick Ronan and Billy Johnson, while in fourth place were Connor Hullings, Jon Sloan, Michael Bohling, Chris Ronan, Tony Geiger and Kyler Hourahan. Also wrestling for Sayreville that day were Cody O’Neill, Brett Dzamba, Zack Johnson, Dan Ronan, Ian Paul, Nick Richiusa and Chris Pearson.

The Men’s Adult Baseball League of New Jersey is currently forming and admitting new teams for the spring season. Individual players and/or teams 18 years and up of any skill level are welcome. Five separate leagues of play. Internet stats and box scores for all games, with a 20-game season followed by playoffs. The all-star game will be played in a professional baseball stadium. The U13 girls Sayreville Lady Blue Devils won first place in their division this year in Tab Ramos’ Soccer Center U13/U14 girls indoor soccer league. The Lady Blue Devils won a championship game over the Staten Island Mustangs in dramatic fashion with a shoot-out. The girls were led by the strong goaltending of Emma Murray and goals from Alyssa Amabile, Sarah Barnes and Staci Jankielewicz. During the shoot-out no goals were scored on Emma Murray, and goals by Alyssa Amabile and Dani Hogan helped to secure the victory. The all-around effort given by Kristen Batko, Jaci Chartier, Rachel Harning, Nicole Holzapfel, Steffi Pagano and Emily Roshetar helped make the difference in the game. The Lady Blue Devils got to this game with a total team effort —an 11-0 first-round victory over the Aberdeen Herricanes.

The Sayreville Little League will be taking registrations for the 2005 season at the clubhouse located on the corner of Washington Road and Margaret Street on Feb. 19 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The league is open for boys and girls ages 5-16 on or before July 31, 2005. Registration is $65 for one child, $110 for two, and $140 for a family of three or more. A $100 work bond check is also required at this time, and is refundable after nine complete hours of volunteer work. Two separate checks required, with only the registration check cashed at this time. Bring a stamped, self-addressed envelope for return of work bond check. The Executive Board of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association invites female golfers from Middlesex County to join members in playing a friendly, competitive round of golf on Thursday mornings from April 1-Nov. 1. Golfers should have a knowledge of the rules of the game and be capable of playing the round in timely fashion. Flights will be established depending on level of competency. Prizes are awarded for the weekly competitions and trophies are awarded at the closing luncheon in November to winners of tournaments. Madison Park Girls Softball League will have final registration for the 2005 season, and will continue to accept registrations through the mail or online. The draft will take place at the end of February. The league is open to girls ages 5-17 from Old Bridge and surrounding areas. Fees are $65 for one player, with a $100 maximum per family.
